WeatherNation tv is now live

Slight correction: Memphis does have the Grizzlies NBA team. If you count the NBA as professional sports :D.

I am betting this channel is never carried by Comcast since they wouldn't want the competition to their company owned Weather Channel.
Umm.....I hate to burst your bubble BUT they already have WeatherScan on Channel 212 here in Denver.....

Plus KUSA 9 (NBC) uses AccuWeather for its WeatherPlus digi channel (Which is on Comcast Digital 249)

Cheers :D

"Weatherscan" is a Weather Channel service (and the one I use for my weather needs). So much better than the mother channel it's pitiful. This thread is about WEATHERNATION.

Thanks for the catch

I think based on the fact weather effects airports, railroads and shipping and the fact Memphis the bigger tourist center, weather would effect Memphis more than Nashville. That doesn't mean Nashville is less important, just that the weather effects more Memphis things, than Nashville things :)

Since WeatherNation has started How long will it takes if this channel makes it to DIRECTV and Dish Network as a 24/7 cable channel?

Seeing how DirecTV is shrinking the number of channels it is carrying (NASA-TV is now history for subscribers with standard definition, although it is now available only to Premier level subscribers with HD Access, although it is a standard definition channel and is still being shown as a standard def channel), I wouldn't hold my breath. Plus seeing how NBC/Comcast has so many channels under its control, there is probably some agreement not to put on any competing channels for weather info.

Corrections:
(Major League) Professional Sports Teams: 1 2

Those would be the Titans and the Nashville Predators of the NHL.

As noted earlier, the Memphis Grizzlies of the NBA

Nashville is a bigger market, but not that much bigger. As Atlanta is already represented on the national map (and is in the same general region as Nashville - lower Appalachian foothills), there was more space in the lower MS River Valley region for a temperature market so that's probably why Memphis got the nod.

The readability of these very general national maps has more to do with who gets a temperature listed than "what's fair" does. Which is why Philly and San Diego are often overlooked (and Hartford is NEVER shown), yet Kansas City, Salt Lake and Portland, OR are always on those. And how about Bismarck, ND? It makes the Weather Channel's maps while many cities that posses several suburbs larger than Bismarck do not.

Let's not be silly about this......
