Weekend GMAZ

And this past weekend:
Michael Raimondi and Kylee Cruz
Kylee did the weather on Saturday, while a very tired sounding Paul Horton did the Sunday weather duties.
With no Monica in sight, it was a great weekend. On Saturday, am, I actually watched Tricia and Lauren on 12 News until 8:30am.

Are Michael Raimondi and Kylee Cruz the permanent weekend team now, or is this still a fluid situation? Kylee doing the weather on top of anchoring seems a bit odd. Sure seems like Monica Garcia has lost the gig.

Who knows? As I have pointed out, 10 and 15 both have one of the anchors do the weather. 12 recently hired Lauren Rainsom to do weekend morning weather. Before that, 12 used pre-recorded forecasts. So, it is not unusual for Kylee to both anchor and do the weather.

There was a guy in Tucson (Michael Goodrich?) who used to do the weather using a piece of plumbers pipe as a pointer. He was there a long time but I remember him from the late 70's.

This dude...still alive, apparently, in Green Valley.

Yeah, so we've had goofy weather forecasters since forever, it would seem.

Another Michael and Kylee weekend on GMAZ! Paul did the weather on Saturday, while Kylee did double duty on Sunday. I *hope* that the Michael and Kylee pairing is permanent -- weekend GMAZ is now watchable again.

I'm thinking Kylee and Michael are permanent. Monica hasn't been on GMAZ in 6-ish weeks, even after working weekdays. Paul Horton has been on past 2 Saturdays, but one was a special event, which left Kylee to do double duty on Sundays. And lets don't discuss the day of Pat Tillman race, where Kylee was the only anchor/weather person in studio. Wasn't at one time GMAZ weekends were the highest rated news program in the Valley?

GEAZ or News at 9/10 isn't any better. Holly Bock has been doing weather, except this weekend, where Royal Norman (Saturday) and Sean McLaughlin (Sunday) handled it. Grey is advertising for a combo news/weather person. So I guess they are sticking with five actual NWA/AMS employees.

The other channels, you know who the lead anchors are. With AZ Family, is it Jared, Yetta, Nicole, or Jamie? Or some kind of combination? Maybe it doesn't matter anymore.

Michael and Kylee seem to be the weekend GMAZ anchors for now. And I should note that Paul did the forecast on both Saturday and Sunday this weekend. Is he going to be a permanent part of weekend GMAZ or just a temporary fill-in? I can't imagine that Paul is liking this assignment...

Well, the Michael and Kylee pairing is over on weekend GMAZ. On Facebook, Michael announced that he is moving to weekend evenings!
IMHO they would have done better moving him to weekday evenings. Just saying. With the possible exception of Nicole he is better than what they have on there now.

Whitney Clark has been off last couple of weekends. Her pairing with Kim Powell was short lived

Now that Grey is settling in, hopefully they will solidify the anchors and weather people. I was surprised to see Paul Horton on Sunday because he wasn't there Saturday. And there hasn't been a permanent Noon News anchor since they let Heidi Gothia go in September 2020.

Paul was on the Friday night sports show at 10:35am on 3TV. So, it would have been a bit difficult to have him back for a 6am start to GMAZ. Well, I thought they had decided to make Nicole Crites the noon anchor until the evening anchors (Heather/Brandon) started departing. Sill miss Brandon because he had the "tv voice".

It does seem like Grey is slowly beginning to settle on some of the anchors. The weekend evening team seems settled at this point (as long as Whitney is sticking around). They will have to fill Javier's slot on GMAZ (maybe that's where Kylee will go?!?). Then, they have to have some semblance of a weekend day evening anchor rotation. And then, of course, there is the weekend GMAZ mess...

And the permanent hosts of weekend GMAZ are Kylee Cruz and Whitney Clark! However, there is no word on who will be doing the weather. Today, Kyle did double duty.

And, tonight, it is Michael with Emma Lockhart. I hope this is the new weekend evening team. Now, I hope they work on the weekday evening team and, of course, Javier's replacement.

I like the pairing of Cruz and Clark. On Saturday they showed a clip when then both worked at ASU's Cronkite TV news show. Whitney was showing the right kind of energy that is needed for mornings. I never had a problem with Monica Garcia anchoring, but it was not a good fit with Kylee. Still missing a weather person.

Time will only tell with Raimondi and Lockhart.

Monica couldn't stop interrupting her other anchor. Very irritating.

Why is a live person needed for weather? It could be delivered by a 5 year old.

"And the hits just keep on comin'!"
This weekend (June 18/19) April Warnecke did the weather. From her house! I haven't seen that since she started coming back in studio.
Since it's the start of the monsoon and AZ Family wanted to have a Meteorologist report the weather, was this a compromise to having April work weekends? I was off my normal routine last week, but I believe Ian Schwartz did weather all morning Friday; April was off.
