wfnx: 4th morning show this year.

FNX dominates the hip indie dad demo.

Along with the hipsters in Allston who go to the Pill every Friday night at Great Scott. The DJ Michael Marotta happens to host the new Boston Accents show. FNX knows their targets..

No more mornings for Jim Ryan. He's officially the full-time night host on FNX.

WHAT? Where does that leave Dee? He is easily their best and most well known talent.

straylightfun said:
Probably back to weekends and fill-ins.

I hope not. He deserves better. This is why I left. Talent, paying dues and loyalty mean nothing.

Beat me to it. I recorded the first couple of days because I work nights and am never up that early. I also have friends from Seattle who told me this guy was number 1.

"Recently WFNX fired 3 different morning show hosts: Fletcher, D-Tension and Jim Ryan."

Not true.

Fletcher got a new job. D and Jim were both interim hosts and knew that.

Were they "trying out" for the gig. Likely. But they weren't hired as full time AM hosts. Nor was anything ever announced about them being full time AM hosts.

I'm not saying they aren't qualified, I'd personally much rather have D or Jim than noname and I think they are both great on the air especially for this station....but saying any of them were fired is just not true.

Get ready for it... the 5th WFNX morning show of 2011! Rumor is that DJ W No Name has become DJ W No Job. It's a shame it didn't work out for the guy, but if the facebook page is any judge, the listeners were revolting. D-Tension should've gotten the gig in the first place, now that Jim appears to have landed in the evening spot.

WFNX - going through morning shows like the Yankees went through managers in the 80's.

Are you serious? Already? That has to be a record.

I heard Paul Driscoll yesterday morning and thought 'was that it for No Name?' His on-air delivery was a bit off, slow and very dry, and he seemed to not been able to master the actual board operating, even after having a couple of weeks. Would it have improved? Perhaps, but things definitely weren't off to a good start.

WOW. That middle segment...just a disaster. That's cringe-worthy! I feel bad for the guy but jeez...complete fail on the board-op time over and over again.. You could literally see Henry shaking his head..trying to save it. But the guy failed like 12 times in a row. Wow..

wow...this is sick. Someone recorded the show and then took the time to edit together the mistakes to post for everyone (28 people) to hear? Does this make you feel better about yourself? Really, truly...this is sick.

It took me five minutes. Sorry. I'll refrain from further commentary. I'm very sick???

Does it really matter? Regardless of who FNX puts on in the morning (or any other time for that matter), their rating will never be more than a tiny blip. It amazes me how much talk is going on about this very insignificant (ratings wise at least) station. If a tree falls in the forest....

Yeah, really. Their target demo is mostly asleep at that time of the morning. And anyone getting up at that time isn't going to turn on WFNX to hear the latest news, weather and traffic.

there's nothing wrong a slow dry on air style if you can pull it off...Haven't given No Name his day in court, but wow...people are ruthless on here

Little non-chain stations seem to get more than their share of attention on most of these boards. I'd imagine it's because their programming and personalities tend to be less cookie-cutter, focus-group-tested perfect than the typical Clear Channel CHR or CBS Radio AC. Really, what can you possibly say about a morning show on WJMN or WMJX here that you can't say about those stations' counterparts in dozens of other markets?

Though I found it strange that FNX went with No Name in the first place (considering they've got a pretty good bench of talent and plenty of alumni who might consider returning for the right gig), it did seem like a few people were dogging him extra hard from the get-go. Hard to tell if it was disgruntled listeners, disgruntled FNX jocks or former jocks, or someone No Name pissed off at another station who's been holding a grudge. Radio trainwrecks are fun to listen to in a "hey, at least it's not me" or "shit, I've been there" sort of way though. It seems the anger would have been better directed at Phoenix/FNX management or that obnoxious Phx writer they seem to love putting on the air.

When they did that reunion weekend and I heard Morning Guy Tai, I thought he was the obvious choice. Bring him back if you're not going to go in house. I heard Paul on today. Is this the new direction? Wouldn't be the first time we see a PD forced into doing mornings.
