What do you think will happen tomarrow with the Harbor and Amp

As we all Know it Tomarrow is labor day so what do will happen with these two stations will amp get Djs or will the Harbor have ads or what I dont know

I think 101.7 The Harbor will have ads but not until Tuesday morning. I think Amp will still be jockless for now as I think we would have heard their upcoming lineup by now if they were planning to have DJs.

Pardon me for being a spelling cop, but does anyone else find it discouraging that a presumably educated person doesn't know how to spell a basic English word like "tomorrow"?

Strongly agree with CTListener. Has proper spelling and grammar been flushed down the toilet?

furthermore is anyone looking forward to Tues when NBC sports radio premiers on wwzn??

I'm interested in AMP and Harbor's first Book. Also WEEI/WBZ-FM relationship in the next Book. I believe the ratings will be posted the day after tomarrow...

I think people put too much importance on a single book. Trends are what matter, particularly in the WEEI/WBZ-FM competition. They've proven over the past three years (I can't believe it's been that long already!) that there's plenty of room for both of them. Nothing in that battle will catch my attention until I see a three month trend heading in one direction.

I think it's still too early to see anything telling from the Harbor's 6+ rankers, but it might be time to start paying attention to the AMP numbers.

>> I'm looking more forward to when 850 switches over to ESPN.

In the press release announcing NBC Sports Radio, Anthony Pepe said 1510 will be "the #1 AM sports station in Boston". I don't know what numbers 850 draws vs. 93.7 (they're added up, right?) but I wonder what they'll be come the alleged move to all ESPN. If anything should EEI (AM) go to ESPN totally, only 1510 would have (one? more) local
programming (which includes las medias rojas, who like consuming pollo y cerveza, B.U. sports etc)

They just followed up Michael Jackson The Way You Make Me Feel with a pre-recorded liner saying "101.7 the Harbor is commercial free. Right now." I don't know if that means they're totally non-comm. still, or if they're just doing a commercial-free workday type of deal. It's only 9:10 am anyway (into: Pearl Jam "Daughter", Motels "Suddenly Last Summer")
(Amp's site by the way says they do 103 minutes commercial free, 5 x a day...)

Tweet from @bostonradio:
>>Noticed 101.7 The Harbor is using different imaging voices as of today, Ken Hudson Campbell is gone. Also, playlist is definitely more 80s pop

WHBA-101.7 will stay automated, and will probably start airing commercial spots sometime between today (September 4th) and the 22nd (the official---according to the astronomical calendar---first day of Fall in the Northern Hemisphere).

But on or around November 1st, look for them to go all-Christmas for several weeks. After all, they are a Clear Channel Property, and CC is the most aggressive comp[any as regards programming all-Christmas stations.

Such an early move would prompt WBMX-104.1 (which I think will replace WODS-103.3 as CBS radio's all-Christmas station) and either WROR-105.7 or WMJX-106.7 (I wonder if Greater Media will flip WMJX this year instead of WROR, given that in most cities, it's a Soft AC format like WMJX's, that goes all-Christmas) to flip early as well. We could be seeing three all-Christmas stations in Boston as early as the first day of November!

As for the new format of WODS, I doubt Amp will have live announcers. I feel the only way they'd be able to compete against the long-standing WXKS-107.9 is to run a "maximum music" format: A high-energy, automated Top-40 format with limited commercials and without announcers.

I really can't see WBMX going all Christmas, as most Hot AC and Top 40/CHR stations don't.

3 all Christmas stations? What did we do to deserve that? 2's enough but I don't
think 3 would work but you never know.

>>There's way too many Rock and Roll Radio stations

I repeat, from the first episode of WKRP In Cincinnatti:

LES: But there are already lots of rock and roll stations in Cincinnatti
ANDY: Well, why do you think that is, Les?
LES: Well, I think it's a plot of some sort.
ANDY: (chuckles) No, Les, Rock and roll is where the money is.

---
And that's why Amp flipped. And that's why Harbor flipped. Country, not so much here
in Boston (WKLB does well but I don't think there's enough of an audience)
These companies are going for what will sell ads. What will attract an audience.
"Young man, this radio station is a business. It is not here for your personal
listening pleasure."

Isn't there supposedly some union contract provision that forces CBS to hire air talent for Amp, regardless of what the beancounters say?
