Answer: Toward the end on my Air-stint, The Mike & Scooter Radio Show was generally #3 A25-54, three tenths away from #2 Love & Hudson, with Ellis &(Chris)James holding steady at #1. Everyone in the business had respect for JB&B, and everyone knew that their management had targeted the GSP for the team's first affliliate. The campain had begun much earlier, with our GM, Charlie Cohn declining each time they sweetened the deal. When ABS lost Charlie to another cluster in Asbury Park, the new GM, Bob Bellin, sold Mike & I down the river like barge of homade booze. Our on-air contract had ended, and that was it. Mike went with Charlie to Jersey, and I stayed to begin our in-house promotions for our new addition. Our last show was 1/5/93, and Robert David (Maddog) Mackney, held court until all the equipment was on-line, about the second or third week in February.
During the last week of January, Ken Carson was brought in as the new PD, and Lee Rogers became our Production Director.
As for Mike & I, we had a good run. #2 & #1 would have been obtainable, but we were always hindered by a Short, Shallow, Allegedly Auditorium Tested, Consultant Approved, playlist, and that, evenually, creates punch-out. I have always had both respect, and a simply envy, regarding JB&B,...as they answer to no one, but themselves!
