I'm not sure why it is off the air, but most likely it is either financial or equipment reasons.

They could always fire up the backup generator (which they should have but probably don't) to put the station on air to keep the license alive.
...or if they don't have a backup generator I can explain to the how to get the power back on with a set of jumper cables without bothering to call the power company.![]()

WGKR (Gene Ketring Radio) -AM 1310's license was surrendered to the FCC in mid '80s and has been off the air ever since that time.
