What happen to WAJP-FM 107.7 Perry Florida

Hey guys what happen to low power WAJP-FM in Perry Florida on 107.7 its seem that they dont run the station anymore?? It been off the air for a while or a year now.

WAJP is a class C3 FM and not a low power FM. I'm not sure why it is off the air, but most likely it is either financial or equipment reasons.

Looking at Perry and the population to station ratio. Too many.

I agree there are too many stations for so little population. Although there can be multiple reasons for a station going off the air, normally the most common reasons are either financial or equipment issues, both of which are addressed in my above referenced comment. With a general depressed economy, particularly present in Taylor County, this may give an indication why WAJP is currently off the air.

The official reason they are off the air: well, there is none! They have not filed a silent STA with the FCC according to the database. I think they have 10 or 30 days (forget which) to notify the FCC if they are silent, but if the original poster is correct then that time window has passed.

Is WAJP back on the air? According to this audio stream it is. http://live.str3am.com:3080/

This is a Hispanic Target Media station, judging by some of their other stations here in Texas they're a bit disorganized. As for WAJP though, huge mix of country music. I'm hearing stuff from Eli Young's "Crazy Girl" to Doc Watson's "Freight Train Boogie" so lots of variety. Imaging sounds decent, station announcements from a guy with a slight hispanic accent over country music. They're calling it "Bronco 107".
Only gripe is the quality of the audio stream, 24 KBPS is, low.

How's the quality of 107.7 FM, can anyone tune it in and check if it does indeed exist?

That weblink and streaming doesnt work Im sure that this small radio station is still off the air. Anonymouse when did you hread WJAP-FM return on the air?

WJAP is on Tune In Radio App but the 107.7 is still off the air unless they are doing an online radio station at this point.

Very strange.
I found that webstream recently and added it to TuneIn. It seemed to act like WAJP, it played country music with imaging and stuff announcing Bronco 107, as I wrote here. I've never heard 107.7 FM WAJP before, I just thought it might be on the air as I found that webstream and it seemed like the station. And now that stream isn't working anymore? Weird... Or did the owners finally figure out the radio station was off the air after all this time? LOL.

Judging by the way Hispanic Target Media works I doubt it will come back unless someone in the area is a radio freak and really wants to get it going. I am shocked at how poorly this company seems to run things. Read more about some of their stations and see for yourself. All the info I can dig up about their operations here in Texas:

Well, the stream is back up as of a few minutes ago when I tuned in. Go listen to the country. Yeehaw. LOL.

From what I'm hearing I can infer that they seem to have left their automation computer turned on at the WAJP studios, if the transmitter is off they're basically wasting electricity. No one would sit there and listen to that low bit-rate audio for that long. Now if they up the stream quality, maybe they'll get some listeners but they'll probably have to have someone there in Perry to do so. If Hispanic Target Media is based in Yuma Arizona, and WAJP is in Perry Florida, that's, maybe 1833 miles away? They'll have fun getting there LOL. :p

107.7 is still off the air on the FM dial but u can still hear it on Tune In Radio App unless they are doing an online radio station. The station is in Perry Florida at a local house I think or trailer house. I dont live in Perry but that what someone told me.

If the stream is coming from programming on a computer at an unoccupied studio in Perry maybe the owners in Arizona should just have the power cut off until they decide to do something with the station... They could always fire up the backup generator (which they should have but probably don't) to put the station on air to keep the license alive.

...or if they don't have a backup generator I can explain to the how to get the power back on with a set of jumper cables without bothering to call the power company. ;)

I was in Cross City yesterday and could hear Perry stations WFDZ 93.5 and WNFK 92.1, but no WAJP 107.7. Of course I was too far away to hear WPRY-AM or its translator but I was told the AM was off the air, unknown the status of the translator.

WPRY has a translator?? Last I was up in Perry was July 2012 I think, and 1400 was off then, as I recall.

Now about WGKR.... ;)

WGKR (Gene Ketring Radio) -AM 1310's license was surrendered to the FCC in mid '80s and has been off the air ever since that time.

Yes I knew they are off, the reason for the wink....I remember as a kid, my folks driving thru Perry, and all I'd hear is a song, then commercial, then song......no DJ, no ID's (didn't listen at TOH).

WGKR did have some DJs in their better days. As a young boy, I spent summers in Mayo, Fla., with my great-grandparents. 1310 was the only station they could get, and they liked it. I did, too.

One DJ went by "Big Jim Wilson." Big Jim also was on 730 in Thomasville later on.

At this point WAJP-FM 107.7 is still off the air on the FM dial I guess they are doing an online radio station for now. U can catch WAJP-FM 107.7 on Tune In Radio App.

Just got off the phone with someone at Hispanic Target Media regarding WAJP. She says it's still on the air, and that the woman they've got down there in Perry calls into headquarters and checks in with positive reports every day.

Something is up, either the woman in Perry is not telling the truth, or you guys just don't have good antennas and can't receive it. Very strange...
