What The Snap

Now, Yummy...that'd be giving this whole thing Waaaaay more credibility than it deserves.
That'd be giving the "Brad" thing waaaay more attention than it deserves.
My snappy retorts and overly logical responses have caught your attention.
Good. That's what they were meant to do.
Again...I don't hate Brad. Never worked with him. I formed my opinion from the words of people I know (persons of KNOWN integrity and stature) in this business who have worked very closely with Brad...AND the facts of the demise of the Buzz. While no 1 person can kill a station alone, Brad, without a doubt, beat it to within an inch of its life.
To have ratings so poor and an industry image so bad-and then have the cherries to pretend to be someone else, start this opinion-seeking poll, is without question one of the most bizarre things I've ever witnessed in radio.
There is NO WAY you'll ever convince me (nor MOST) that you are not Brad. We've never seen you, so you could claim to be anyone standing in a picture next to Brad.
I am amazed at the audacity to brag (in second person) about your abilities as both a jock AND a star programmer. Again...I have never seen anything like it. It's as if you think we don't have ears! We HEARD you on the air!
Your "stay the course" attitude is also baffling. In the face of overwhelming knowledge of your lie...you continue with it. I guess somehow that could be a positive. Maybe.

I've become bored with this now.
You know what the truth is, and I for one, know what the truth is.
I wouldn't dignify this idiocy by listening to, much less participating in your "conference call."
In case you may mistakenly think that means I'm scared...you may want to poll some radio old timers in your midst. Ask someone that knows me if they feel that is a possibility.

In summary,

While I've treated this whole thing as a joke, there are some disturbing things about you.
If you aren't Brad...along with his professional issues, you are a certain addition to his concerns. You are too familiar with him and you think about him (and his girlfriend) way too much. If you aren't Brad...I hope he'll find out who you are and take the proper precautions.

If you ARE Brad (I vote this one)...Dude...you need to get some kind of help! If this bogus attempt at self-promotion gone wrong is not a SCREAM for help; I don't know what is. Get it and get better at radio BEFORE you ordain yourself as God's gift to it.

I'm only a former serf in the kingdom. but in the end... no matter what...YOU asked for opinions and you got them.
In the future...be careful what you ask for.

Meep

I understand and respect your decision Meep. However if anyone else would like to moderate it please post.. It will be one heck of a chat. I would do it myself but I want to remain impartial. I will prove myself to all of you. Also, I will keep an eye on Brad. Your comments have made me think. Not one person really had anything nice to say about him. Kinda sad but maybe we can all turn that around.

Maybe Brad can turn it all around himself, by seeing himself for the way he really is vs. the way he wishes he is/was.
Then maybe he can become a really strong leader by making the right moves to excel and improve and by listening,
learning and even apologizing if need be. Maybe one day, he will prove how valuable he is to Entercom and those
working around him. I'd say that'd be a party most of us would love to come celebrate. This board may be a great
starting point to changing direction toward the positive. I am not group hugging wives or that Meepster dude, though,
or really anyone else for that matter. :D Ah, the positive power of radio-info.com. You couldn't get this from XM-info.com
could ya?

Has this train wreck of a bulletin REALLY gone on for over 11 pages?
So this is it huh? This is ALL that ANYONE on this board has to say about radio in the city of Memphis, and it's metro area?

It's kind of like a really bad car wreck. Ugly, morbid, and gross...but you just can't look away.

I get the feeling that we've all been "punked". SNAP is so desparate for listeners that they would have to stoop to a cheap message board prank such as this to bring notoriety to their lame programming. If this insanity keeps up, Art Gilliam will be on with similar drivel about WLOK.....that would be fun!!!!

WE are afraid to be known????

We know who we are. We have been on this board for a long time sharing ideas and laughing (and bitching) about the stupid moves made in the memphis market.

BUT, I'll bite at your bait. I am Bill Hughes. I worked in Memphis (at various places) for 6 years. Most recently I programmed the number one station in Tupelo for 3 years before being laid off due to corporate layoffs at Clear Channel. With this info you will say I am jealous over Brad and his star power at Entercom. Go ahead, I know you want to.

Now, WHO ARE YOU?????

I have had some fun with this insanity, but it's time for something new.

Yeah.

That's it.

I'm afraid to be known, you see.

Wow.

Then it probably wouldn't help my anonymity to sign my posts, leave a link to my blog, and leave a link to my business website...

A few final thoughts from me on this issue...

"It is far more impressive when others discover your good qualities without your help" - Judith Martin (Miss Manners)

It's something I live by. In this industry humility is just as important as talent if you want to advance and be respected. I've seen way to many horn tooters disappear because their public image began to reflect negatively on their employer.

If this poster is not Brad, and has any respect for him and his career, then he/she should stop posting in his stead. It's doing nothing but create even more negative feelings around someone who was already not well respected in this market. Brad's done nothing to gain respect in this market, and I truly hope that he has the opportunity to do that with SNAP. I hate to see anyone fail. All of us have been on the receiving end of that at one time or another, and it sucks.

YUM, Brad is not a god, so don't build him up to be. But he's also not without talent. He should just take his time to learn what he needs to learn, gain respect in this market based on his work, and be very careful how he represents himself in public and who he allows to speak on his behalf.

And advice to Brad, who I know is reading this, please be very careful what you say and who you say it to. Memphis may be a big city, but it's really just a small town and everyone knows everyone. And like all small towns, people talk and form opinions based on the experiences they and their colleagues have had with others. That "random" person you blow off at an event or on the street just may be a big advertiser (or be very close to one), and I can tell you that in a city like Memphis, nothing will get you the door quicker than the "suits" finding out that a company that makes big buys doesn't like or respect their on-air personalities. I've seen it happen several times. Radio is a BUSINESS, and businesses make MONEY. Mess with their ability to make money, and you'll be in the cheese line.

And with that said...

....Good luck to Brad with SNAP, I'm NOT rooting for you to fail. No one deserves that

.... and YUM, whoever you are, just keep your mouth shut because you're not helping your "friend" by trolling for complements about him online or making defensive (and way to personal) comments about him to other members of this industry. Suits (and advertisers) do watch these boards...in fact, that's how I found it.

People of known integrity and stature worked with him? No doubt but was it good or just known? They were mostly just people who worked at radio station.

Suits and advertisers check out this page? Yeah right. Bored people wasting time. Thats what I'm doing now. Laptop on lap. Azz on toilet.

Out.

[EDIT]. Never had it, never will.

On a side note, he is the spitting image of Philadelphia Eagles Quarterback Jeff Garcia. Anyone ever notice that?

[namecalling]

Maybe you could try that again radiocheeseballs...the gong got you so bad,I haven't a clue what you were
really trying to say. Roses are red!!!

Never having seen an image of Jeff Garcia spitting, I couldn't say I've noticed that...

One week ago I spent much of my valuable time trying to enlighten you all as to the talents of a true legend in this market. Brad Carson, is a treasure, and I think it's time you all own up to it. You hate because you can't. Brad has seen and done much more then most. He is programmed the best sounding stations in his respected markets. He has made a life in this town, and you all will not run him out of here. Unless it's a place higher and with more prestiege. You all are an example of what a little bit of information can do. You obviously lack the intellect to deabte the issues live and one on one. You all know who each other are, but the thousands of readers DONT! Who would have thought that a bunch of radio guys would be so vocally silent. Take me up on my challenge and debating me on the merits of Brad Carson and Snap on Monday night. We will see who really believes!!!!!

I voted to end this weirdo thread a few pages ago..My co-workers and I found it funny at first, then turned strange, and now just totally uninteresting.

And a conference call? who wants to waste any of their valuable time on the subject, this thread has been more than enough!

The inner programmer in me finds that all of this is just radio Psychology 101- GONE BAD..

First he starts the post wanting his ego stroked..The negative opinions he received lead to drastic measures, pushing people to his myspace page, next he does the whole big announcement stunt, that drew many of us (whether we want to admit it or not) to the sluggish radio station for 2 mins (at most, for yours truly)

Now he wants a conference call to discuss Brad and Snap? Why? His talent and the future success of the Snap format here don’t lie with us. They are only with himself and the important personnel over there on Ridgeway Loop.

pe@ce

And what happens if Brad left the market? Who on Earth could replace him?
