What The Snap

YUMDIALER went on a fishing expedition, plain and simple. Good one. You turned a 1-share station into 13 pages of debate. This one is HOF material, to say the least. I hear Rob at 93X is begging for you to proclaim him a genius so we can create 13 pages on his station. ;)

Then after that we can move on to 790, 680 and other Entercom properties begging for attention. :-*

I'm sick of you all, just getting on here and blasting me for my opinions. Let's face the facts here, you all are just out of work radio guys, acting like you know it all. At this point I could careless about Brad, and what you all think of him. What I do care about is your inability to understand the way radio is done in today's market. Don't you see this is why radio is dying. We are all just surrounded with Shuck and Jovers who think only one step ahead of wedding dj's. We are in the age of AM and FM Digital radio. We are in the age of music heaven, and you all are just talking about the old way. Brad is a brilliant master of multi media. I can't wait for the website to come online, it will be futuristic and bold Im sure.

The Las Vagas gang is back Brad and Jerry... Look Out! If you were in the business it would matter, and in my opinion you have all enjoyed these posts so you can all learn a few things.

What Shuck and Jovers? The new morning team coming to Kix?

(Sorry, could't resist :-*)

I love how people get on here and ramble on about radio like they even know what they are talking about. SNAP is a brand that Entercom will run for many years. Brad is the only guy who can program it... at least effectively. Brad was huge in Atlantic City. In fact his station, got 9.8 share 12 plus under his direction. Go look it up... the numbers don't lie. DONT Blame Buzz on Brad, he was just a victom of the music product and what surrounded him on a stupid idea of a rock station

Okay, lets use a little bit of logic here. The biggest truth about Memphis is that whatever works in other markets, I.E. ATLANTIC CITY, DOES NOT WORK HERE! You guys need to remember this. When Entercom blew up the frog, they thought The Buzz was going to go to number 1, or at least be in the top 4 based upon the success of their branded station in KC. Didn't work (although had they stuck with the original staff instead of destroying the product they had a shot at maintaining a very GOOD product in contention with FM 100, etc.) Now what do they have? A big fat zero. I'm not mentioning Brad for good reason. He isn't the overall problem.

I'm out of radio locally so I can say what I want. 94.1 has been nothing less than a parade of one mistake after another, either by design or stupidity, I can't figure out which. I will tell you this, the music mix is too repetitive, too overplayed (over the years) and this will burn out even faster than Modern AC they had with the Buzz. Its not just one Jack-esque station we have in this market now, its TWO, with Kim-FM here. Granted, Kim is the better sounding, more rock-oriented version.

A bit of tongue in cheek here that ol' Meepster will surely get a laugh out of, the Dixie Chicks cleaned house last night... now just WHAT format did everyone expect which never materialized here? HUH? Five years of me and others just screaming MORONS continues to fall on deaf ears. And we certainly know one person to whom that applies more than anyone else.

Yo, Meep--- email me!

You know, I hate that there's not much positive to say about this market these days... but not to change the subject, I hate more that even my favorite station here, 93x, sounds like shit these days. They are down to 2 good songs to 5 bad. Everything Rock my ass. Some of the crap they play in between the REAL rock doesn't even pass for rock. WTF is going on, they trying to destroy that product so they can flip it?

Don't ya'll mess with Rob, its not his fault... it's corporate. And I feel for the two main overworked on air friends of mine over there.

SNAP will be number 1 25 - 54 by September! Who wants to disagree, Im sure most of you do, but I will absolutely take all credit when Im proven right. Also what numbers if not number 1 do you all think Snap will have in September.

#2 in Sept. Probably not #1 till Christmas.

And a "radio civilian" gets to take credit for ratings... how, exactly?

When it comes to country music and the Grammy's, I wouldn't base any assumptions about the country format based on who wins those awards. The Grammy voters know next to nothing about this genre. In country categories, more often than not they vote for who they've heard of, rather than music the fans of the genre have heard.

I heard, through the Grapevine, that Snap was off the air for a couple of minutes
this morning. Is Memphis still standing? Did a certain individual assend from the heavens to
heal the problem? How will this affect their current #1 rating status (all demos??)

That was the most entertaining thread I have ever read....EVER!(mainly cuz it's the first one I have ever read) I heard word of this and had to check it out...

[EDIT] As if your station wasn't bad enough already...Now it's just a complete joke. I wish i could have caught wind of this before your uber awesome chat room meeting that supposedly took place last night...yee haw...

As for 93X, yea it sucks now... Corporate shite taking over..I miss the good ole days...As a matter of fact..the only station i can even stand in Memphis anymore is ESPN 730 haha.. Just my opinion, good day to all..

Satellite Radio is the way to go!!!!!

[EDIT-inflammatory]

I get your sarcasm. But at after 14 pages, why don't you quit piling on. Perhaps #1 is not realistic by September, but #2 is not only possible, but quite likely. Especially the fall book where diary placement is so important. Snap is the most inovative and refreshing format to hit this town in decades. And Brad is the right man at the right time, for the right job. Your (the board communitiy's) 14 pages of negativity only serve to reinforce that Brad is on to something with this station. I've been in radio long enough to know that when radio people hate it, it's going to be HUGE

I would be honored to work at this station for this brilliant programmer. I suspect you would too.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! ;D

Brad 1 (real brad) and Brad 2 (YUMMY) have a new friend in Brad 3 (BB)

Is that precious or what?

Brad or not-SNAP sucks! Period.

If some of you people really think Brad came up with this, or any other format, you are SORELY mistaken!

This is a corporate format (good or bad) Brad has been given every playlist and move to make with it.

Not original to Brad at all.

Spoon fed from Entercom Corporate. WORD.

The Snap staff is in place, I suppose. They've been given their marching orders. He's fed them the hype on this "unique format" (that only real Memphis folk know isn't gonna work here). Now his troopers are on the thread, backing up their boss.. No biggie, it's typical radio. Only time will tell the fate of Snap, but until Arbitron shows up differently our station isn't worried of any immediate threat right now. :D

Word has it, YUM is someone over at the Flinn building.

I'll give you two guesses... with a G

Well it has all become quite clear. Maybe it should have been better specified. Some of you are employees, of the totally deformed Kim. Kim is a station that misrepresents the power of varierty. The name alone would exemplify "BORING." With it's limited scope, and totaly lack of focus, I would say it is doomed. The music I like works better. Snap is a more elaborate, and powerful force in the market. Woud you all date a girl named Kim? I think not because she would seem to be a bit boring and its clear she doesn't put out a good product. I personally can't believe Snap gets compared to Kim at all... Snap has attitude and energy, while Kim is just flat. Snap's promotions are better, and the format will be on the air for years to come. Kim will be a one night stand in Memphis.

wow, Yumster, I agree with you on something finally. Kim is flat to me, IMHO.
