whats with all the complaining

101.1 has been home to a number of decent radio stations over the years - problem is there will never be competitive in the ratings in either of the markets they serve. Signal issues to the west of the Triad and east of the Triangle put the dial position in a no-win ratings position.

That said, however, Bill Whitley has done a nice job combining his cume from both markets and giving his sales people a story to tell. They should do will in revenue, but if you expect them to ever have dominant ratings, forget it.

Frankly, they should turn off the stereo pilot during the talk hours and get a little boost in some of their signal deficient areas or the metro.

pretty sure that the stereo is only on when the music is playing

In winston salem WZTK is only listenable on car radios and non-existent in zebulon...I find myself listening to clark howard, handleman and John & Jeff (I usually work nights)...I used to listen to coast to coast but it would scare the crap outta me when driving late nights down desolate country roads.

I remember when I used to work at night (four or five years back) I'd have to turn it from Coast to Coast when Art Bell got so far "out there" that I thought "they" might be coming for me on the highway.
But then there were times where you could tell the guest was a put-on and Art would make fun of them.
Along those same lines, Phil Hendrie on 1210 WPHT was always a good place to turn when Art Bell was too "real."
I don't know what I'd do now. Probably do like everybody says I should have already done and got satellite radio...

Back to the WZTK topic, they come in perfectly clear here in Wake Forest most of the time in the house on a SuperRadio III with the antenna turned just right. I can't get them in any cheap little radio in the house though.
Then for a couple days here and there, you can only get them in the car, not even on the SuperRadio.
Sometimes 101.1 The Party (now the Touch) out at the coast comes in over WZTK, especially in the earlier mornings. I hate those days.
