I’d hate to be the person who has to change the batteries!
If you are not concerned with cosmetics and REALLY like the performance of the "guts", you can parallel some outboard switches to the existing switch contacts. If it's those membrane touch switches, you can probably get a couple push buttons and attach them on the back or the top of the radio case. The issue is mechanical wear on the buttons. They are embedded under a waterproof plastic sheet. Eventually the contacts wear out from being pressed too often. So I don't want to start that process of wear on the new one until that happens. Right now everything but the clock set still works.
Wouldn't that negate its waterproof nature, though? If you are not concerned with cosmetics and REALLY like the performance of the "guts", you can parallel some outboard switches to the existing switch contacts. On the chance that it just happens to be a shower radio but not being used in the shower (because it's way too good)Wouldn't that negate its waterproof nature, though?

I was long overdue for a new radio receiver, and this month alone I've spent on Amazon more that $2k on radio receivers:
I wanted AM/FM, HD RADIO and Internet Radio.
For my car: Kenwood DNR876S (AM/FM/HD Radio/Internet Radio)
You got 7 radios in your house? Are you going to decide which of the 6 portable/component/desktop radios you like the most and send the others back?I was long overdue for a new radio receiver, and this month alone I've spent on Amazon more that $2k on radio receivers:

For Home:
SANGEAN HDT-20 component Receiver (AM/FM/HD Radio)
Ocean Digital WR-50 Component Receiver (Internet Radio)
SANGEAN HDR-14 HD portable receiver (AM/FM/HD Radio)
Ocean Digital WR-336F desktop receiver (FM/Internet Radio)
C. Crane CC WiFi 3 desktop receiver (Internet Radio)
Tecsun R9700DX portable receiver (AM/FM/Shortwave)
Before those, the last time I bought a radio receiver was in 1991, a Technics component sound system in a cabinet which by the way, still works, and added to it the above 2 new component Internet and HD Radio receivers ...
Is your car older? All my newer (last 10 years) vehicles have such integrated touchscreens it would be a nightmare, if not impossible, to replace the stock unit.

Yeah I have it in the bathroom with me but not in the actual shower. That humidity level alone keeps me from wanting to have a normal radio in there. On the chance that it just happens to be a shower radio but not being used in the shower (because it's way too good)
Now you new readers, you need to know this may be that same Mike Sheridan who has had a major roadway named after him in South Florida. Treat him well! He is VERY FAMOUS!When was the last time you bought a radio? Out of curiosity I looked on Amazon and the results were disappointing.
I bought an Aiwa AM/FM/CD boombox from a St. Vincent DePaul thrift store nine years ago. It looks brand new and sounds great. Date of manufacture on the back is August, 1988. The purchase price......four bucks!Boombox? I bought a $60 AM/FM/CD unit from Amazon almost a year ago for the sig-other. It works great and she loves it. I've owned others that didn't last long.
I would define it as being something where the radio is a major part of the functionality. Otherwise, I'd have to say that I bought a radio just a month and a half ago -- albeit a radio that came with an included car.It depends how one defines "a radio." All of the following include AM and FM, with one exception.
I bought a Sangean HDR-14 about 6 months ago. It's a very nice HD Radio.
Oh.. and a few weeks ago I got a SiriusXM SXPL1H1 Onyx Satellite radio with a home kit. I moved my lifetime subscription there when I traded in my car recently. It works very well in my home.
