When will KMVN finally be put out of it's misery???

I'm not sure which is less tolerable... this station continuing it's meaningless existance or the 7 year trend of AC stations playing Christmas music 24x7 before Thanksgiving.

And, anyway, ads are not heard by the cume. They are heard by the AQH audience that is listening when the ad is broadcast.

On the other hand, aren't stations with low cume more likely to buy given the impressions threshold that has to be passed in order to motivate people to buy?

I had a good laugh listening to some guy named "Neo" on Friday night playing 80's mostly new wave influenced pop music sounding like a homeboy from East L.A.. How out of place was that with the music they were playing. Movin is by far the worst music station to ever be in Los Angeles.

Aparently you've never been to East LA. The 80's New Wave music is as popular now, as it was back in the day. I know way too many people that are hard core Smiths, Morrisey, Cure, DM ... I can go on and on. Movin is just trying to do what Power 106 did back in the early days of Power, which played DM, Pet Shop Boys, and other New Wave artists along with the Pop and early Rap artist of the 80's. Im sure they can replecate the playlists, but their problem is with the talent, or their lack of. Oh, just FYI, the guy on friday nights in called "Nino".

Movin is NOTHING like Power was back in the day. To even hint of a comparison is ridiculous. The problem with Movin is it should have been the old original Power out of the box. New Wave was not the bread and butter of Power 106, just a small flavor of it. It was the "Dance Now" station of dance, house, freestyle, and some urban leaning pop with a little new wave thrown it.

List all the clubs (club nights) in ELA that are playing new wave music...

Most of my friends are Latino, most from or are still living in East Los Angeles and they could care less about New Wave today. It isn't popular or Movin would be doing better in the hood which it isn't.

Nino sucks and sounding like he's from the hood doesn't/isn't working with the music Movin is playing.

I never said Movin is what Power was, merely that they're trying to sound like it. Their efforts are a result of trying to save a sinking ship.
I never said anything about clubs, I am merely saying that if Morrisey had a concert in East LA College, you couldnt get a tix if you tried.
I guess you know the hood so well, you surely must know that he's faking it. I know Nino personally, and he's not trying to "sound like he's from the hood", he's being Nino. Regardless of what you think of his sound, hes still on the air, and has been a part time jock here in LA for over 10 years now, so he must be doing something right.

But Big E is wrong -- the current Movin' format isn't an attempt to emulate Power; I couldn't list one song Movin' plays that Power did back in the day. There's no correlation. It's what they should do... but Movin' is still sounding more like KBIG once did, before it became much more of a modern AC.

Here is what Movin just played (from Movin's website):

1:11 PM "GROOVE LINE" - HEATWAVE
1:07 PM "LAST CHRISTMAS" - CASCADA
1:04 PM "FAME" - IRENE CARA
1:00 PM "DISCO INFERNO" - TRAMMPS
12:57 PM "MAD ABOUT YOU" - BELINDA CARLISLE
12:53 PM "LET'S GROOVE" - EARTH, WIND, AND FIRE
12:50 PM "CALL ME" - BLONDIE
12:46 PM "PARTY TRAIN" - GAP BAND
12:43 PM "GIRLS JUST WANNA HAVE FUN" - CYNDI LAUPER
12:34 PM "SHAKE IT UP" - CARS
12:30 PM "SHE WORKS HARD FOR THE MONEY" - DONNA SUMMER
12:27 PM "TOO SHY" - KAJAGOOGOO
12:18 PM "ADDICTED TO LOVE" - ROBERT PALMER
12:14 PM "DO YOU REALLY WANT TO HURT M" - CULTURE CLUB
12:11 PM "WHEN I THINK OF YOU" - JANET JACKSON
12:07 PM "CRUSH ON YOU" - JETS

You're telling me not one song thats on this list, got air time on Power? The disco stuff I know wasnt on power, but Irene Cara? The Jets? Robert Palmer...I actually won this LP on Power some 20 years ago, from Boomer and I stll have it (along with Cyndi Lauper), so I know it got played. Cmon Janet? This is what they sound like now. I know they sounded like KBIG a while ago, but they're playlist has expanded alot, and is actually listenable. They still need lots of help with the talent though.

they need a new/old school program director to even come close to classic Power 106.jeff whyat as the program director would make the (Power switch) switch.to me movin sounds like a train wreck..i listen to Power 106 tapes every day from 1987 to 95.there jocks suck..no fun like Power use to be.i chatted with a great old school persomality, how about a huge change with movin starting with there station ids, drop ins and personalitys.72 thousand watts of movin power maaamovin power kmvn los angeles.........movin 939!!!!!!!!!!..that might make tem sound moere like the station they are trying to copy...freestyle from the 80s they dont play much if any at all.taylor dane, fire on blonde, cover girls, sweet sensation, expose kim wild.i think everyone remembers those groups ;D .add a 9pm exclusive boris and cris club mix..(Power 106 has these in there music vault)...what is your opinion everyone???to that one person that i keep in touch with, thanks for the ideas.... b#@m im out of here...

Hey Von, he's Kansas bound and will be freezing his chones off for the next couple weeks. Last I checked its like 4 degrees F, below 0 with the wind chill!

C'mon Big E, that Irene Cara song is from 1980, and Power didn't even launch until 1986. Of that list, I'm guessing that Janet song was the only one that got any rotation on Power, and *maybe* that Jets song -- although I'm guessing the Jets were too CHR for Power (guessing they aired a more dancey version of it tho.)
If Movin' were really trying to emulate late 80s Power, it would be heavy on freestyle, dance CHR and the like. Instead, their focus on disco and CHR is more AC than anything.

I was just listening to my airchecks of the very first day of Power 106 from Jan 11 1986 (have a complete 24 hours of nonstop power from day one!) and Movin is no Power and will never be a Power!

I have the Control LP that i won from Power, still with the Power 106 sticker on it. That album definetly got play. Your right about the Irene Cara, i was thinking of someone else.

What are "chones?" In Spanish, the only reference is to a province of Ecuador; there is nothing in my Oxford English Dictionary.
