Movin is NOTHING like Power was back in the day. To even hint of a comparison is ridiculous. The problem with Movin is it should have been the old original Power out of the box. New Wave was not the bread and butter of Power 106, just a small flavor of it. It was the "Dance Now" station of dance, house, freestyle, and some urban leaning pop with a little new wave thrown it.Big E said:Aparently you've never been to East LA. The 80's New Wave music is as popular now, as it was back in the day. I know way too many people that are hard core Smiths, Morrisey, Cure, DM ... I can go on and on. Movin is just trying to do what Power 106 did back in the early days of Power, which played DM, Pet Shop Boys, and other New Wave artists along with the Pop and early Rap artist of the 80's. Im sure they can replecate the playlists, but their problem is with the talent, or their lack of. Oh, just FYI, the guy on friday nights in called "Nino".

List all the clubs (club nights) in ELA that are playing new wave music...
Most of my friends are Latino, most from or are still living in East Los Angeles and they could care less about New Wave today. It isn't popular or Movin would be doing better in the hood which it isn't.
Nino sucks and sounding like he's from the hood doesn't/isn't working with the music Movin is playing.
Doctah said:But Big E is wrong -- the current Movin' format isn't an attempt to emulate Power; I couldn't list one song Movin' plays that Power did back in the day. There's no correlation. It's what they should do... but Movin' is still sounding more like KBIG once did, before it became much more of a modern AC.
Doctah said:Of that list, I'm guessing that Janet song was the only one that got any rotation on Power
