Where is CW going in the Seattle Market?

This will get them better over the air coverage in Vancouver, which is another big city. Not so much Seattle unless they get on a .2 somewhere.
Vancouver B.C. has a much lower Hispanic population than even the Seattle area. That, and they can't sell advertising north of the border, so nobody should care whether there's a better signal in B.C. The only saving grace will be that KVOS is carried via cable in Seattle, but they lose a significant reach of OTA viewers.
 
The Canadian cable system broadcast KVOS on 12.3 (Metv) instead of 12.1
Correct. I thought I’d tune in to see if the programming switched over, but the cable channel is still “MeTV Seattle.” It’s probably the more attractive channel to put on the cable lineup compared to the main KVOS feed (when it was H&I). I doubt if anything will change, and I would bet that the .3 will continue to be relayed over cable.
 
Besides Univision Canada will show only programs that produces from the Miami studios. They won’t show programs coming from Televisa Mexican studios since the cable systems in Canada carries the Mexican national channel. “Canal de las estrellas,” XEW-TDT Canal 2 directly from Mexico City.
 
I check OnTVTonight and ARC News only airs an hour, idk how many newscasts that KOMO supplied on KUNS. Among the duopolies available in SEA-TAC area: KONG only airs an hour in the morning at 7am and replayed at 8am (despite they shown for 2 hours on the grids) along with the 9pm-11pm newsblock. KZJO only has 9pm competition against KONG. BTW only The National Desk and The National Weather was filled in the schedule and a replay of KOMO's 11am newscast at noon, no syndicated stuff from 3rd parties.
 
From what I seen ARC Seattle is Live 8am-10am & 10pm-11pm the rest of the ARC Seattle editions are all replays. They should have just named them KOMO News like most secondary stations do.

Then they don't get separate Nielsen credit for separate station advertising. Especially true in an election year.

I'm guessing that the "benefit" of this approach is that it is dirt cheap for Sinclair to run the station this way. But I suspect that the ratings are going to be really, really bad.
 
I can’t believe I read this whole thread.

All I know is Heroes & Icons TV on Comcast changed to Univision on 1/1/24. H&I is available OTA on a KVOS sub channel. And I can’t watch DS9 anymore.

Doesn't matter. 2024 is an election year. When the campaigns PAC's and Super PAC's want to buy TV in the Seattle market, Sinclair now has two full market English stations to run those spots.

I'm not so sure about that. Are those political advertisers really going to be interested in buying spots during programs that don't show any measurable audience? Because my suspicion is that nobody is going to be watching anything on that station other than the CW programming. Seriously, that schedule makes the old Equity Broadcasting TV stations look like high budget operations in comparison.

Yes. In the heat of campaigns, TV media budgets are allocated for markets based on the number of local stations in each market of interest. Many of those buys are negotiated at the group corporate level. For example; Sinclair has something like 200+ stations nationwide in X-markets. Guaranteed that their national sales folks are negotiating rates based on a full spread of signals in at least their top 100 markets. The more stations, the more potential ad placement.

You answered your own question: CW affiliate in media market 14, with placement and rates negotiated at the parent company nationally at the corporate level over 200+ stations.

Kelly A you are correct. They will likely package these additional newscasts in with the Channel 4 product whether as outright spot sales or value added to "bring in the buy". My guess is you will start seeing cross promotion for this if you haven't already. CW isn't the draw here many of their shows posting close to little or no ratings at least on the OTA piece. KING/KONG, KCPQ/KSJO (KCPQ+) all do this already.

Yep, and the CW audience is made up of mainly 55+ voters. Whereas not as rate-lucrative or as many available units as local stations with newscasts, seniors are still part of the total demo portfolio a group like Sinclair can offer at a national rate.
