White House bars AP, Reuters and other media from covering Trump cabinet meeting

Here's a story about one white house reporter ... Somehow, he's managed to avoid being attacked by the president.
That's no small feat, given this presidents' propensity for attacking virtually everyone in sight for one reason or another, often at random and without warning.

c

The controversy arose after Trump accused Democrats of “seditious behavior, punishable by death” on social media. He also reposted a statement including the words: “hang them.”

According to the site, “The Democrats and Fake News Media subversively implied that President Trump had issued illegal orders to service members. Every order President Trump has issued has been lawful. It is dangerous for sitting Members of Congress to incite insubordination in the United States’ military, and President Trump called for them to be held accountable.”

The online page also features an “Offender Hall of Shame”, which includes the Washington Post, CBS News, CNN and MSNBC (now known as MS Now). Visitors can browse a searchable database of articles, along with the names of the journalists who wrote them. Each story is categorized under labels such as “bias”, “malpractice” or “left wing lunacy”.

Here we go again and its an extension of stuff we seen when Chairman Carr go after media outlets on the TV side. Now its go after the White House Press pool.
Amidst the tragic shooting of two West Virginia National Guard members in DC on November 26 and a flurry of Truth Social posts and more attacks on Joe Biden’s legacy Friday from the ex-Apprentice host, the Executive Branch launched a digital pummeling of “the Media Offender of the Week.” Promising to chronicle a “record of the media’s false and misleading stories
flagged by The White House,” the page also offers a detailed “Hall of Shame” going back months. It also urges vistors to “Scroll for the Truth.”Somewhat surprisingly, the newly minted mouthpiece slams the David Ellison-owned and now Bari Weiss-run CBS News over its coverage of Trump’s reaction to ex-Navy pilot Sen Mark Kelly (D-AZ) and five other members of Congress for their video this week for urging troops to disobey illegal orders and remember their oath to the Constitution. Trump went online to accuse Kelly and the others of “SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH.” He also reposted another Truth Social comment that proclaimed, “HANG THEM,” among other critiques.

Nowhere on the president's hall of shame: NPR and PBS. I guess he assumes they no longer exist now that he defunded them.

To a lot of journalists, being on his list a badge of honor. This proves they're not in his pocket.

Note somehow the president can accuse a local TV station like KTLA Los Angeles that has nothing to do with with the White House press pool but KTLA's national news content is from NewsNation. Then again its political interference on the press pool thats what it is here.

Here is an update on the AP lawsuit against the Trump Administration over press access.

The article at the below link is a special report from Reuters and is about President Trump's attempted retribution against people and institutions who he believes opposes him and who are critical of his administration. While the media is only briefly mentioned in this article's text, at the bottom of the article is a list of names of individuals and institutions targeted by this administration with brief synopses of what the President has done against them as of November 25, 2025. The last group on this list is the media. While most here will know the stories behind most of these charges, it is good to have everything listed in one place.

If you’re wondering why we keep hearing about the administration controlling the press pool directly this is one of the circumstances we have to consider. One of them involved how Pete Hegseth handled messages and potential classified information on Social Media. We had other lists included in other threads circling around the administration and it always ended with First Amendment issues.

It's been a while since we talked about the press restrictions at the Pentagon. When they were enacted, all of the major news organizations left.

Now we're involved in a war with Iran. The last time there was a war, there was a lot of news coverage at the Pentagon. Have you noticed any lack of news coverage about the Iran War? Are the networks or major newspapers missing anything because they no longer have credentialed reporters at the Pentagon? I don't think so. Why? Because this war really isn't being fought from the pentagon, but the white house.

The defense secretary did a press conference on Tuesday, and everyone had access to it. You didn't need a credential to see it. He clearly isn't in charge. But he looks good and authoritative in pushing the administration's talking points on TV. That's why he's there. He's a TV star. So news organizations aren't missing much by not being at the pentagon.

Well when US Service members are involved they have to be covered one way or another.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth complained about some of the coverage of the U.S. and Israel attacks on Iran, claiming that media outlets are playing up tragic incidents that have killed service members to make Donald Trump look bad.

Speaking at a briefing on Wednesday, Hegseth said, “When a few drones get through, or tragic things happen, it’s front page news. I get it. The press only wants to make the president look bad. But try for once to report the reality. The terms of this war will be set by us at every step.”

Also this the reports over the attacks in Iran we have to get a response by the White House one way or another.

The problem with your reasoning is that we don't know what we don't know. Lack of Defense Department access means that the press has to rely on meetings with people outside to get the information on which it is reporting. And some of those people who may have given reporters information inside the Defense Department may not be giving that information outside of the Defense Department--we just don't know.

Good reporters develop contacts. Those contacts exist regardless of access to a building. The TV networks also hire top retired military people. Those people also have contacts. That's where the news come from. Not Pete Hegseth. He just says what he's been told. He's not going to say anything that doesn't fit the narrative. That's not news. We already know that story.

The main thing we don't know is who is angry enough by the killing of the Ayatollah that he will launch the next 9-11 attack. Because that wasn't launched by a government or an army or anything official. It was a rag tag group of religious zealots who wanted to respond to the narrative. The next 9-11 is being planned right now. That's what we don't know. The people running the pentagon don't know it either. Nobody does.

IMHO I believe Iran (and there are others too) has been funding groups that are against and hate Western Civilization, Christianity, Jews and of course Israel. These folks will not be happy until the whole world is living a 5th century lifestyle and practicing their version of Islam.

BTW I believe this is only a small part of Islam. I worked with a couple of Muslims and they were decent hard working people. Almost every religion has some radicals.

Some MAGA politicians have dusted off the old anti-Muslim talking points from the 9/11 era and before, such as "we're all going to be living under Sharia Law!". (Never mind mandating fundamentalist Christian doctrine being forced on publif school kids. Republican Voters Overwhelmingly Back Ban on Sharia Law

Almost every religion has some radicals.
The radicals in this case are all in favor of bombing Iran, because they believe a Holy War in the Middle East will fulfill their biblical prophecy of leading to Armageddon and the second coming of Christ.

Forced conversion never works. Those who they would control will always find somewhere safer.

100% agreed. I know a few Muslims myself, they are very pleasant individuals, do not force their beliefs on anyone -- they seem to have a higher-than-average belief in "live and let live" -- and they indeed have a very strong work ethic.

Years ago, after a Muslim mosque in the region was bombed, I decided to reach out to the local one (which had not been the target) just to express my sympathy and my hope that they would not also be targeted. When I told the gentleman there that I was Christian but still cared about those of other faiths, he replied "that is all right ... we all worship the same God, and we will pray for you this evening as thanks for your concerns."

Hard to have any animosity toward them after that, right?

The New York Times will argue against the pentagon press policy before a federal judge this Friday:

The government defends it's policy this way:

“The goal of that process is to prevent those who pose a security risk from having broad access to American military headquarters.”

However, that's why you put the media through extensive security procedures in order to receive credentials. All credentialed media go through FBI background checks, are fingerprinted, and as thoroughly vetted as anyone else who works in that building. The government policy is prior restraint, which is forbidden by the constitution.
