Who is already missing sports on TV?

Fox needs to stop making their sports repeats optional. Some stations like WHBQ in Memphis and WJKT in Jackson TN are using it as a convenient excuse to fill the time with infomercials instead, and that definitely has to be hurting the ratings if too many other stations are doing the same thing.

I’m not sure you’re understanding that business relationships are two way streets. And forcing garbage filler on your partners in the midst of a radical business upheaval isn’t a hill the network needs to die on. They’re striking a flexible balance.

Last weekend's rebroadcast of the 2011 NBA Finals Dallas v. Miami was a little jarring to watch. It seemed like there were strobe flashes that lit up the floor every few seconds, but it didn't look like it was part of the original program. I can only speculate that may have been problems with the recording.

I haven't seen the video of that game/series recently, but here's a possibility:

Many arenas where I've attended games have a number of strobe lights that go off simultaneously every few seconds. I've always assumed this is part of a security camera system that is taking shots of the crowd, in order to have video evidence should there be any sort of incident in the stands. These strobe lights are pretty much unnoticeable with all the other lighting in the arena, and I imagine most fans are unaware of them. Perhaps the cameras at this particular game broadcast were picking that up?

Yes, that was the old Super Bowl aired on Saturday. You should have made your reference clear when you posted about the Super Bowl only attracting 1 million viewers. You wrote it as if you were citing figures for the Chiefs-49ers game played back in February.
I thought it would be obvious what I was referring to.

I know last weekend Fox17 aired a movie at 3PM I saw Fox46 that Nexstar just swapped with Fox a few weeks ago had MLB last Sat. Yesterday WXMI Fox17 aired Million Dollar Baby at 3PM.

Update there are talks that the MLB might open in July if this is true.

Major League Baseball owners approved a proposal that commissioner Rob Manfred plans to present to players Tuesday on a return-to-play scenario that aims to have baseball back in home stadiums by early July, sources familiar with the situation told ESPN.

The meeting between MLB and the MLB Players Association on Tuesday will set the stage for what both parties expect to be a contentious negotiation. Although MLB could benefit long-term from being the first American team sport to return amid the coronavirus pandemic, the logistics of starting the season remain convoluted and require player support.

Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey will lift the stay-home order on Friday AND allow major league sports to commence with no fans in attendance.
Could MLB get the green light for 'late' spring training very soon?

They will need to convince the player's union before that happens. The players are very concerned about their health:

The owners would like the season to begin, but they're not the ones who risk getting sick.

Meanwhile Dr. Fauci recommends against baseball this year:

During the Senate hearings, he also cautioned against football.

I'm watching the Cornhole championships on ESPN, which is a statement on how much I'm missing sports on TV.

But I'm struck by how everyone is wearing masks, and that may be one of the rules we'll see when other interpersonal sports return.

Like Fox really cares?? It's A REPEAT

They're only offering it to stations who WANT it. They're not FORCING stations to carry it

This begs the question WHY is Fox re-airing SUPER BOWL broadcasts during what's supposed to be BASEBALL season??

Shouldn't they be airing stuff from MLB instead??

Fox has been airing some baseball games as well. I watched the Cubs win the World Series a few weeks ago.

It's interesting to watch the world series, with play by play by Joe Buck, on ESPN. Sort of a double take there for a minute.

The MLB Network Radio channel on SiriusXM had the classic 1976 Royals-Yankees ALCS game, with the dramatic Chris Chambliss home run, last night, using TV audio from ABC -- yes, Howard Cosell. Interestingly, it could have passed for a radio broadcast, as just about every ball and strike was announced, rather than being ignored in favor of chit-chat, which is the way television does baseball now.

I had to look that up because I couldn't imagine Cosell doing play by play. That was done by Keith Jackson. Bob Ueker did the first game, probably because Keith was doing football.
