Get real. Because a number of us are awake to the reality of why Oldies is fading off FM stations all over the country, we must be Oldies haters?

Get it where you can(Sirius & XM) and its better anyways. No loss whatsoever for me, was a huge blessing in disquise.

but what we don't get is why they think anybody CARES whether they give up or not?
and btw to people in their 40's most anything before the beatles IS doo wop to them. a 42 yr old is just not *into* sam cooke or the ronettes (no disrespect intended to those 2 great acts)

Noone wants to see the music they love disrespected in any way, by cheesy putdowns, or saying you are no longer relevant. Yet, it really isnt being just now ignored, because oldies have been disrespected for several years now anyways by the presentation they were given on free radio. So, I agree, don't beat a dead horse, move along,take your music to a better method of prsentation and get respect back for those who enjoy this format. Times change, music evolves, and the manner in which we get it will evolve too- ipods, internet and sat radio make it actually an enjoyable evolution. Someday those who love 80s, 90s and todays music will be old and face the same situation, they will also have to adapt.

Too late. Most oldies stations were automated/satellite-delivered most of the time. Most stations in any format are automated outside of morning drive.
All music formats are becoming extinct. The only niche left for radio is local talk.

Chicken and egg. Is terrestrial radio losing listeners because it is firing employees or firing employees because it is losing listeners?
Maybe neither.
Maybe terrestrial radio is losing listeners because listeners have newer and better choices available.
It's called competition.
Oldies are available: Online. Via satellite. For mp3 download.
The fact that Oldies listeners would rather complain about old technology than embrace new technology suggests strongly that advertisers would be wasting their money trying to sell them.
