Nine FM is on 2 suburban signals and 1 signal that barely covers the western suburbs. The WRZA & WKIE signals don't cover the city of Chicago very well, especially the downtown area. That's part of the reason. Inifinity Broadcasting has the revenue to advertise, which is why they got word out about the format. With any format on a city grade signal, those stations will almost always get better ratings than a suburban signal station like Nine FM, simply because in a market like Chicago, the city grade signals cover the entire market, where suburban signals get 2nd adjacent interference in Chicago, especially downtown. But you have to remember that Nine FM is run by an independent company, so they don't answer to investors like Infinity Broadcasting does. Since Jack FM in Chicago is run by a publically traded company, every dollar counts. So Infinity Broadcasting better hope the flip to Jack was a wise one. We'll know when we see the billing for Jack, and we'll get to see that in the near future.
