Yeah, well now that it is a done deal, lets see what he will do with those stations? I just hope he doesn't get rid of the K I M N call letters one bit but tweak 100.1 to make it better. WIth the wolf(who knows that 92.5 frequency has been almost every format under the sun almost). For KOOL well that station has already went down hill really fast when it modified it's self.
This is a good question..

What do you all think Jeff well do with 100.1.105.1 and 92.5?

radiodude aka wiker

Actually its not a done deal yet I think it has to be approved by some people first. As for 105.1 not sure but for 92.5 they should bring back Willie. Not sure what needs to be done with 100.3.

It's amazing in this Town that everyone wants 92.5 to Remain COUNTRY. Lets see Country was tried on 92.5 back in the 90's Big Dog Country KZBD if i'm not mistaking....plus you have 98.5..KYGO There is 97.9 which is country.........Why do you have 15 thousand COUNTRY STATIONS in this Town.

CBS runied what was a Good format of CLassic Soul and R&B by Killing Jammin for yet ANOTHER COUNTRY station. It's ashamed How many Damn People on this board always wants COUNTRY to stay. You already have enough of this Format ::) ::) ::) :'( :'(

Calm Down will you? The only reason CBS got rid of Jammin was ratings.

Because CBS didn't want Jammin to make it and Promote it properly. It was the only place for Classic R&B and Soul & Disco, why didn't they Flip Mix 100 to Country....Mix isn't doing any better.

Actually if you looked it, the Jammin format across the country has been dying and has been a very unpopular format for any station to hold on to. So CBS saw that to that people wasn't really listening to Jammin and the commercials were not doing to will either on 92.5. The way it is right now on 92.5 at least they have spiced up The wolf to make it sound more attractive and fun to listen to. Where as some of the other country stations haven't. I do applaud them for having the freedom to change the format twice so far in reflection of whatever is going on. This Christmas theme is a first for 92.5 (as I can recall) because I don't remember 92.5 ever playing Christmas music before. So it is nice that they can do that and I hope Wilks doesn't kill that one bit and realizes that the people over there at 92.5 is unique and have talent and creativity. I would also never understand why we have so many country stations here in Colorado.. It is either a very popular format or it is just a format that PD's think well bring in the listeners or the bucks.

PUtting country on 100.3? Right.. that signal is so terrible, i can compare it to 101.9 at least.. Up here in Northern Colorado we can't here 100.3 and there for country would do badly for 100.3.
They need to move the stick for 100.3 up north here to make any difference actually.

If you look at the History of 92.5 you will see that some of the formats already tried was Country--KZBG (Big Dog) then Alternative(Z Rock)
KVOD CLassical (now on 88.1) KDJM Classic Soul..which wasn't promoted right...Now KWLI Country AGAIN

How about Top 40 maybe..more a upbeat format of music...a little dance maybe....something Up tempo would be nice.....

bringing back Jammin's format would be a miracle......but how about try something other then country??????

Ok lets say you took over 92.5.. And you looked at the history of the station and the history of the ratings for 92.5. What format would you try to go with that hasn't been tried and would bring in the listeners and the commercials for the station to make money? I guess satallite programming would be the last result since allot of stations have gone that route. So what would u change 92.5 to if you had it?

Mix 100 will move solid into its Warm AC format.
Oldies will most likely remain the same
92.5 KWLI will more than likely go CHR, ive heard this from 20 various sources today...and with call letters like that, would Wild 92.5 make sense?

Ok lets say your right about 92.5, the main question is well that next format be a success? Well it bring in the listeners and the ratings and even the commericals? So far that has been the main big problems for that station. No matter what format it takes on it never gotten any good ratings at all and the listeners base just wasn't there even before CBS radio took it over. I am hoping they can do something then what the previous owners couldn't do when they had 92.5. Lets see what 2009 brings to these stations... lets hope it can fix the poor ratings that they have been getting so far.

You are missing the big story here! 19.5 million dollars for 2 full power sticks and a 50k in market 22? Good grief. 10 years ago 105.9 sold for 60ish million. Has radio become this de valued or was CBS so fed up the gave the stations away.

I surprised that nobody mentioned this until now. In most markets, these would be considered three full powered sticks. 3 for 19.5 million sounds scary and a little desperate. Hopefully this is not a sign for things to come.

Actually, Emmis bought KALC for roughly $100 million in 2000. So, it's even worse than that. Three solid sticks went for less than 1/5 of what one station did a few years ago.

Merry Christmas!
This is the one day you can actually express the sentiment without pi**ing someone off. Sad. Jesus is the reason for the season!

Changes Coming To New Wilks/Denver Cluster:
Changes are happening quickly at the CBS/DENVER cluster acquired 12/22 by WILKS BROADCASTING for $19.5 million in cash.

SVP/Market Manager DON HOWE, a 3 1/2 year vet, exited YESTERDAY 12/28. The new Market Manager will be former CLEAR CHANNEL/DENVER Sports Dir./Sales BARRY REMINGTON.

MY TAKE:
92.5 will go CHR, MIX 100 will go AC (lighter as that's when they are successful) and KOOL will be Classic Hits or AOR (as that's what Wilks knows). Mike Tierney will run all 3 as he has already had experience in all three formats.
Bye Bye Gamble, good riddance Howe. You are both destroyers- not just of radio stations but of good people's lives. Karma is a bitch!!!

P.S. Good luck Barry, your a good guy in a difficult situation.

It would be a bad decision to shift KOOL in a rock direction, Denver is already oversaturated with rock and classic rock stations.

does anyone know when Wilks officially takes over these stations ??? also i have to wonder what changes if any at all will take place.

So i wonder will there be any format changes on any of these stations??

Pretty sure there will be no changes, beacause CBS is still listed on the stations websites. If it is on the website it must be because CBS still owns the stations and CBS owns the stations because it is on the website! I didn't see anything about Cha or JoJo in the website so that must not be true either. Jonathan and Tracy are still on the KOOL site so that must not be true either, that they are moving to the Wolf.
Beside that they celebrayted their 1st anniversary today on the kool morning show, why would Wilks let them do that if they were moving them???? Lies lies lies that all you do is tell lies lies. Boogie you're my hero; but he is not on the site either, so another lie.
Gotta go the nurse is here to give me a colonic. OOOOHHHH WARM.

Actually Wilks is operating those stations under an LMA. As for the Web Sites he hasn't had time to work on that yet.

Yes Cha and Dr. Johnny Fever I mean Da Boogieman and JoJo is suppose to be on KOOL not sure yet when that will happen.

So Bogieman is not on Kool? I don t like this not one bit! He deservs to be on their and also I think should be on sata light too. This is a grate ta lint gone to waist. I wonder wnat is wrong with radio today ? just mey two sents. ???

Ok before I say anything I just want to know one thing...
From your typing and misspelling how old are you anyways? You seriously need to start to use spell checking while your typing out your responses.. So that everyone can understand what your typing. Lucky for me after yrs of running a Bulletin board system(something that was the internet before the internet came about).. And come to Denverradio.net to, and join the discussion there on this very same topic.

Now the reason why Da Boogieman isn't on the Kool is because Cheap Jeff wanted to pay Boogie a lot less money then what Boogie is worth. I mean everyone from Denver and beyond knows who Daboogieman is and so he wanted to get paid what he is worth and they said no, there for the he just got up and left and never returned back. On top of that he wanted to do is show his way and that was out to.
