FCC REPLIES:
????????? See my previous post about Parenteau's excesses.
Major talent, misguided personal life. Of course when some
booking agent dared me to "card Mark's boyfriend" at the
Paradise one night the manager chewed me out. But it was funny!
Mark had that "How dare you" look when I carded the dude
(he was OF age!, by the way)
I sent him a copy of a book called "Oedipus Burning" so
he became a good sport about the incident...years later.
"You are just wrong in quoting yourself." Guess you
have more of my writings than I do, Nik. That's a good line,
if you are auditioning to be Dick Cheney's new speechwriter.
NIK ON THE PHOENIX:

WELL, Nik, there you go talking about things you DON'T know about.
The Phoenix is financially more stable than Improper - here's some
info for you:
1)I've been published in The Improper Bostonian - had a column
under editor Rey Roldan which really p.o.'d your P.D. (who has
the letters that make up p.o.'d in his name!!!)
http://home.earthlink.net/~dkennedy56/phoenix_980911wbcn.html
2)The Phoenix was the last hold out. After 25 years of
charging who decides to give away their paper free? you ask?
Survey says: ALL OF 'EM (all the Players, anyway).
Improper Bostonian has had storied financial problems. The magazine
might look good but the quality -much like the quality of jocks on
WBCN since the heyday of Charles/Ken/Mark - sadly lacking.
You get what you pay for and Oedi's job was to cut payroll by
hiring away from college radio and FNX. Do you dispute that?
The Phoenix has a better writing staff than Improper - and
actually plucks away the better writers from Improper when they
choose to.
Did you ever achieve the same paycheck Mark got? Did you achieve
the same paycheck Ken got when you went to mid-days? These are
valid questions. Ken probably got more money when the dollar was
worth more than you got when it was worth less. I certainly know
the advertising rates on Ken's show (my label was a WBCN advertiser;
WBCN still owes me $50.00 in paid adtime, but c'est la vie)
NIK WRITES:

Content is king. The Phoenix looks like The Phoenix. It is far more
valuable and is quoted more often. I don't even put Improper
Bostonian on my resume. Rolling Stone.com, VH1.com a bit more
impressive than "The Improper Bostonian". Heck, I'll use my U.K.
byline from Outlet Magazine before "Improper Bostonian" - even though
many in the states aren't aware of foreign zines.
Some people pad their resume, some people have more credits than they
can use. Oh, by the way, thanks for letting us know you had other
gigs on WBCN than just drive time. Nice of you to clarify, after
someone called you on it.
You make no sense. Please don't respond to this - it will look like
you are flaming...again.
I will give you credit that ZLX and BCN might not be changing.
That's your world; the world of The Phoenix and Improper Bostonian
is something you are - obviously - not privvy too.
I would never cheat an audience out of a good interview for a
stunt the boss demanded:
http://home.earthlink.net/~dkennedy56/phoenix_980911wbcn.html
but that's why your boss never got along with me. Someone being creative
and having an independent thought is not something the former P.D. was happy with.
That's why, on a worldwide level, more people have read my writings than
have ever heard the nonsense that individual used to broadcast.
Key words: used to.
