Its really interesting how fast word got out about this format change. The sales department was calling clients on Tuesday. Everything was supposed to be hush hush. As to how long the Spanish will last, I would say it will be for a long, long time. There is clearly money to be made with this demographic and if the audience is well served, they should do quite well, and it doesn't matter if we who speak English like it or not. Also I hope goodtimesandgreatoldies isn't too disappointed and survives this format switch.knowsdown said:Talked to a friend there yesterday and it's confirmed, 98.3 goes Hispanic on July 1. 790 The Ball will follow later in the year (possibly as late as 12/31/10) The company is being very good to the WIST employees paying and extending benefits through the end of August. Wes is on part-time disability but may be able to expand that to full time. Wonder how long this Spanish station will last? Any bets? I say they'll switch to something else on 12/21/12... All Aztec all the time!![]()

Norberto Sanchez is a pretty good operator and feel he and his team will do well in the GSO market. The real need here is for a street wise leader to build a sales team and pick up the slack that WGBT left in the market when CC made the decision to change formats to Rush all the time. If you noticed in the last ARB WNOW out of Gaffney, SC scored a 1.4 in the 12+ ratings. WGBT was constantly doing well in the ratings. Congrats to Norberto!
Well, we know they'll hit The Ball out of the park.tropicanamedia said:nuffsaid said:The tread has mentioned a number of times that 98.3 had only two opportunities for growth in the market and that was either Hispanic of Classic Hits (oldies). They already hired three of the top Hispanic media sellers in the area. Even with the limitations that 98.3 signal has, I'm sure they will hit the ball out of the park. Hispanics in the Triad got used to an FM signal. I just hope that they will be smart enough and try to localize the station same as La Preciosa did, and not only send everything from Charlotte. I agree Norsan is a good Hispanic Company.
