WKDF Morning Show GONE

Actually, Nashville already has that kinda station - it's on 95.5! Or as 103 referred to it in liners, the "cheesy soft rock" that you don't have to sit through to hear the "legends" on KDF...

No, 95.5 is NOT that kind of station. There's a huge difference between Lonestar and 95.5. The non-country songs being played by 95.5 ARE "cheesy soft rock" songs. The format is equivalent to a countryized Mix 92.9.

Jason, maybe you need to change the 9-volt battery in your old transistor if you thing Foxx and Ford sound alike on air.

As much as I like Lonestar -- I find myself streaming it several times a week now -- I don't think you'll see KDF going Lonestar. But I could see them mixing in Southern Rock with Hot or Modern Country, and it being successful, given that much of KDF's heritage was built on Skynard and ZZ Top. If KDF doesn't add Southern Rock first, I could see a Cromwell pairing of a Lonestar-type format with the Buzz as being potentially more successful than what they're doing now. But I couldn't see KDF adopting a full-blown Lonestar format.

Lonestar will play Stevie Ray Vaughn, zz Top and I even heard them play a fairly deep cut from The Black Crows.

I think Lonestar is taking some pretty big risks by what they are doing. If it works, look for this to spread across the USA like Rosie O Donnel's waist line after scarfing down a box of Kryspy Cream jelly doughnuts. Ok, bad joke, but the format wil spread. LOL

Judging by some of the posts in here, I think this format would be well received in Nashville.

But I say this as a long time Nashville resident, Nashville has never been a town to take very many risks in radio terms.

I beg to differ - you've got like three spoken word formats on FM signals - is that a record?

Let me rephrase that: Nashville radio is usually not taking many risks. lol Usually

Oh there are a few past stations I thought were really good in terms of broad musical selections.

WKDA FM when they burst on the scene was really something special. I hope many in here are old enough or were in Nashville to hear the original WKDA FM around 1970- to late 1971. The first 2 years were wild and wooly

Rebel 100.1 was innovative radio back in the day. Lightning 100 the early years were really great!!

By my mentioning those stations does not mean that other stations were not good radio. So, do not give me any crud. LOL

WCBS got semi-smart. A little to late, but still. They did. WKDF ain't nowhere near tankin' numbers, but
if I was CEO of Citadel, I'd never allow a third rated Country station to play on in Music City. Bring on
the redneck rock the old way, hell throw in a little Merle and Waylon if you must, and bust the speakers
off Titans stadium this fall with the big announcement and flip after the first home game. Even better,
simulcast it all on 104.5. It'll be the third Music City Miracle. WRQQ will fold in an hour. That alone is
worth 3 points. Divided by four. ;D.

Translation: Citadel ... alseep as always. Nada. How about this liner: "Just call us Pacman Country...
more lame excuses than a jammed ATM at Christies. The station of dead legend's and broken promises...
WASHED UP COUNTRY 103 WKDF."
