Love or hate hearing "Pretty Woman" every other day, it's a quick revenue-generator.![]()
As they show their expensive jocks the door, keep kissing up and you may be asked back Kendall!EStreeter said:Say what you want about Russ, he is not stupid. He is a strong business man.
EStreeter said:I think the lesson that should be learned from WKLU is that people want personality radio. WKLU's highest ratings were when they had two mega personalities (Ritz and Baker) dominating their afternoon and night shifts. They were over a 5 at one point. Fire them, and the ratings fall.

But RUSS was the only one to see all that car dealer, funeral home and supermarket(?) money there for the taking. They don't even have to have a sales staff with this (new?) oldies format, the line of car dealers is already forming outside the WKLU offices as they try to throw their money at Russ and reserve their ad time.

Bad leadership (G.M. but ultimately Ownership)
Bad sales results (G.M. and Ownership)
All the testosterone left the format (PD and since Ownership kept his fingers in it, his fault too)
Talent pool got watered down (PD, GM, and Ownership)
They lost their attitude and ballsy approach to radio in Central Indiana (same as above)
What's funny is they started by going after Q and JJK is the one that drove the nails.
Oh, and about OLDIES being a solid idea "financially"...HA!
That's a good one! A solid knee slapper (to fit the format)!
This format is merely a prelude to two things:
1. A SOLD sign out front.
2. A Big Format flip (Oldies eases the blow... not as many pissed of listeners or complaint calls)

Actually, I was listening to 101.9 today, and there was music, and DJs, and commercials, and traffic, and weather... I don't think it is dead, yet. And as for the "For Sale" sign out front, how long have people been saying that in here? I think it's still under the same ownership, don't you?
