Savvy move by Curtis Media. Targets K97, G105, KISS 93.9, and possibly some current non-radio users.

Its all about sales, and Curtis needs some younger female listeners to package
with their other stations. Pulse won't have to "beat" anybody to contribute to the company.

The Curtis cluster of stations really know how to sell advertising, and that's how success is measured.

I like it, it does just what it sets out to do, and I think better than G105 or K97.. And Curtis Media already has a dominate position with Country and Rock - they need more women.. They don't need to be #1 to have this be a big win for them. Radio programmers need to program to the younger demos more - or they will all be going elsewhere.. hopefully continues to make itself relevant to their target.. I mean, G105 has a old rocker as a morning show host.. does a 25 year old girl really want to listen to him ramble on about himself?

Check the ratings.

Oh, I know the ratings are high W25-34 for Bob and the Showgram.. it's a good show. Don't get me wrong.. But given the fact that they were the only game in town, I have a feeling that given the option, people will switch it off. G105 wins by default right now.

I will be curious to see what the "Pulse 102" schedule will be, don't be surprised if some sydnicated shows
air at first, but i still feel this format will be gone within the year.

No syndication. Local. Tell us of your vast experience, and why it will fail, from your perch on Mt. Sinai?

We're on the edge of our seats.

I hope "Pulse 102" will be local, it's the best way to go for a station, but convincing listeners to switch here
may be a uphill battle, i will say this, if the numbers aren't what Curtis Media expects from their investment,
then don't be surprised to see a format change, one thing WPLW and WWPL has against them is coverage,
but let's see how they fare during their first ratings book.

The coverage in the Triangle is pretty good. Durham and Chapel Hill is rock solid.
Wake Forest and Johnston Co. is excellent. Morrisville and Cary is where you have to pick the best signal.
In car listening is not a problem.

Time will tell whether the format flies here. I do know that Curtis spends good money on research,
unlike most companies these days. And, it's good to see them put on a focused format that wasn't
well represented here.

In LA,Charlotte, and other markets CHR and Rhythmic/CHR co-exist pretty well.

Disclosure: I don't work for Curtis. (used to)

Right now it's the best kept secret in the Triangle. Where's the marketing plan that was mentioned below? 10 million dollar investment and you can't afford to market?

Sales Manager For New FM Radio Station
In Raleigh-Durham, NC
Curtis Media Group will soon be launching a brand new FM station in the country’s 42nd radio market, and we’re seeking an addition to our market-leading radio management team in Raleigh-Durham, NC. This position will work closely with both the corporate Sr. VP/DOS and the station’s general manager. If selected, you’ll stand side by side with a driven, goal-busting, take-no-prisoners collection of outstanding leaders to build upon a legacy of customer service and second-to-none advertising results.

The radio station signs on this fall with brand new towers, transmitters and a laser-focused format position revealed after a comprehensive market study conducted by Harker Research. The station will have full market coverage, hands on consultation by one of our industry’s most respected visionaries and be designed from the ground up as PPM friendly. Digital and social media platforms will, of course, be part of the overall marketing plan as will a generous promotion budget. In short, we’ll do this right.

Patience newbie.

The station has been on the air for three days. World Series and Elections this week.
Unless you're a 24 year old female who likes Rhythmic Hits, you may not see some of the marketing.

For a former employee, you sure are in the loop
