WLDI needs to undergo major changes

Then, by your logic, it is disingenuous to compare Clear Channel stations, regardless of format, to non-CC stations. Non-CC stations are significantly more live, and sound much more like stations from five or ten years ago.

The point you're missing Scott, is while it may be important or interesting to you to compare stations era to era or company to company the only reality is what works. Maybe they are doing well despite all the PC or whatever you call it - but I don't think Wild has ever had such great ratings - least not in a while. And that's the point they are trying to get you to understand. You can say you don't care for a station, but don't say it sucks, don't say it could be programmed by a monkey, don't say that all they care about is running cheap when you don't know what you are talking about, okay? As everyone has been telling you, what counts are ratings and revenue. They apparenly have both and in the business of radio, that's what counts. They are doing well with their target demo, and no offense, it's not a big deal to them that a 35 year old male doesn't like them. That's not a new thing. That's not the work of "bean counters" or corporoate edicts. It's always how it's been.

I understand the point. I understand that Wild has had recent - not consistent - ratings success. Revenue can be directly tied to running a station on the cheap. It is well-known that Clear Channel has tried to boost revenue by running its station in a "leaner" manner; the thousands of laid-off former employees can tell you that.

My main point, which apparently you missed, is that the station's sound is lacking. That is one man's opinion. I never said that Clear Channel or any PD or anyone else has to care. In this thread, two people disagreed with me. I was not even the poster who made the original point.

And my original point remains the same: Name for me a CBS or Citadel CHR station that is inferior to Wild. I guarantee that said CBS and/or Citadel station will feature more live jocks, more promos, and more locally-oriented music.

CBS only has 8 CHRs, and that includes WPGC which is an extreme rhythmic variation, as is their B-96 in Chicago to a lesser extent.

Citadel has 15 CHRs, none in a top 50 market. Clear channel has 95 CHR's.

Granted I have not been to Chicago in a while, but last I heard B 96 had a "Hits and Hip Hop" branding (akin to Wired 96 in Philly). I would not call that "extreme rhythmic."

You base your assessment of the music content on a station on their positioning statement? Wow.

Mmmhmm, so extreme that their playlist pretty much sounds Urban.
