I have fond memories of my radio sales intro at WOKW in early 80’s. Owner Sid Sandft (sp?). Marshall (son) GM, daughter Traffic. I had the pleasure of selling Marshall’s Saturday morn. “Swap Shop.” My first sale was Peaceful Meadows I believe in Bridgewater. Interesting place. Office in basement and some good people (some last – and first – names escape me) passed through: Stacy Harris, Peter (my first SM), Dave (morning guy who also wrote and produced good “specs”), Joan (?) BM, news guy from WATD, Bill Smith (consultant), Jeff (first attaché case I ever saw in sales), Kenny (who flew aerial banners), and I think another Kenny (both on-air). When I introduced myself and calls many thought we were WOKQ. Hey, I had to make a living! ☺
I left shortly after publisher Jay Acton (NY) bought the station and changed calls to WAMK.
