WMSX-1410-BROCKTON supposedly sold today

I have fond memories of my radio sales intro at WOKW in early 80’s. Owner Sid Sandft (sp?). Marshall (son) GM, daughter Traffic. I had the pleasure of selling Marshall’s Saturday morn. “Swap Shop.” My first sale was Peaceful Meadows I believe in Bridgewater. Interesting place. Office in basement and some good people (some last – and first – names escape me) passed through: Stacy Harris, Peter (my first SM), Dave (morning guy who also wrote and produced good “specs”), Joan (?) BM, news guy from WATD, Bill Smith (consultant), Jeff (first attaché case I ever saw in sales), Kenny (who flew aerial banners), and I think another Kenny (both on-air). When I introduced myself and calls many thought we were WOKQ. Hey, I had to make a living! ☺

I left shortly after publisher Jay Acton (NY) bought the station and changed calls to WAMK.

I disagree with the pirate bashing.
Latina 100.3 comes in nicely(at least the parts I have driven through) in Brockton.
Why would anyone want to hear a lousy AM signal when there is an alternative?
The only sad part is that Latina 100.3 does not have a stronger signal so that it could serve Boston & all locations south.

And did you know that the son of the 1960's-1970's owner of WMSX-1410 (then WOKW) now is principal owner and tireless General Manager of WARE-1250 in Ware? His name is Marshall Sanft. And WARE is a good-sounding station with immense local involvement; a great example that local radio can make it.... Marshall works 150-hour weeks, and his efforts really show on the station.
I'll 2nd that on WARE!
