Reviving a thread from a couple of years ago:
WNKO's new tower site should be on the air sometime in May, when 101.7 in Urbanna moves to 101.5 Enon. The CP for the move to Enon runs out
in May and they say this CP will be built by then, which will then allow WNKO to sign on at it's newly constructed tower site East of Columbus.
Since this thread was started over two years ago, WNKO has a new CP which will allow to have a city grade signal over Newark. The question is
will they still keep WNKO a locally-oriented "hometown radio" operation or sell the station to a Columbus operation? That answer is not quite so
clear now because their original CP would not have had a city grade signal over Newark. Also, this new article quotes the station and the station says they will stay a Newark and Licking County radio station:

One thing not addressed in this article is the license change from Newark to New Albany. ???

Why is WNKO moving from Newark to New Albany? Before anyone Gibbs-slaps me upside the back of the head and shows me the obvious, I did see on Radio-Locator where their CP allows them more power/higher stick from New Albany.
I get the feel from their website they're a locally-oriented "hometown radio" operation.
What light can you shed on this for me?

I hope they know what they are doing. Having a stronger more reliable signal would be nice for the Newark folks who work in Columbus and would like to listen at work (as the station does not stream on their website.) However, there is a lot to be said for being a big fish in a small pond at the at work crowd may not be big enough to cover what they could lose.
