The alleged numbers Rush is getting is something like 15-20 million a week and I don't know if that means every day that number tunes in, or at one point or another in the week someone will tune in and that number
represents the whole week. What was to happen was an April 1 debut and CC keeps saying they will have a local show which supposedly will debut around then. They were to be aiming for a local host. (They could
poss. simulcast the local shows on their WTAG or WHJJ or something)
Newspaper columnists don't necessarily have radio voices (McPhee comes to mind). I do know that Brian
McGrory of the Globe was at one time her co-host; he was OK but prob needed a co-host...the Globe's
Alex Beam has done radio once in awhile (at least I know he was heard on "Jerry Williams' farewell show"
on RKO, calling in to speak with Jerry, at least) Who knows, re: Finneran; I thought his contract was due for
renewal last month.
The 1200 lineup for mornings on weekends is still up in the air AFAIK and I wonder if they could put some
other Premiere hosts on. Jesse Jackson or Randi Rhodes unlikely as they're not conservative but they could
offer the likes of: Dr Dean Edell (not politics), Bob and Tom ("optional Saturday edition"--maybe a rerun), etc.
Much of the weekend is reruns of weekday shows though they will have Bill Handel On The Law and
Bill Cunningham on Sunday nights, and the Art Bell editions of Coast to Coast overnight/weekends.
The sched page at their site says "Full program lineup begins Monday, March 8th at noon, after Rush Limbaugh's premiere on Rush Radio 1200." So don't expect Glenn Beck til the next day
In recent years the weak-signalled attempts at mostly conservative talk included
WBPS 890 "The Boston Talk Party"
WMEX 1060 (briefly had Jerry Williams, Marge Clapprood, etc.--a revival of the old RKO?)
WTTT 1150 (aforementioned Feder show IIRC, then mostly Salem shows + Hannity)--
"Boston's Conservative Talk"
WXKS signal should do well within 128 by night, and beyond that fairly well by day. Driving on I-93
last night at 8 pm, I tried 1200 and it was pretty strong. They can reach a lot of people just within
that range, though in outlying areas you may have trouble esp. at night. So fans of the shows involved
could pull in stations from Manchester; NH seacoast; Worc., Prov, or the Cape. Or even NYC w/ WABC, etc
