The lack of advertising is the best part of Public Radio. I wish they got more public funding so they didn't have to bang their tin cup so often. That phrase never went over to well when I used to say it while working at GBH.
I really enjoyed listening to J&M today without the constant commercials, promotions, breaks for traffic and news headlines.
A lot has changed at WERS since I was there 25 years ago. They are now looking for a paid professional air talent to co-host the morning show with students. When I was there, if a Freshman was good he or she would get a shift. It helped if you did a semester on the Carrier Current AM WECB but that wasn't a rule. I started on ERS the second semester of my Freshman year. ( I wasn't that good I think the competition at the time was a bit weak) and stayed till graduation.
As Dan Rea would say lets agree to disagree. I don't like taking up space on this board criticizing other posters.We are all here because we love radio.
