WSBK takes over MyNetworkTV affiliation in Boston

It was announced last night during the "WBZ News at 9" that WSBK would be joining My Network TV in the Fall of 2011. Kate Merrill (aka the "Giggling News Anchor), stammered through the statement about 9:10 last night. I think that means no more WBZ news on TV 38 unless they move it to either 10 PM or 7 PM.

As for WBIN, I thought I heard that Bill Binnie was planning to start an all-news TV operation, called "New Hampshire One." Not sure if that is going to fly- an all news operation would cost a fortune. Plus, while Southern New Hampshire has experienced dramatic growth in the last 20 years, is there really that much news that would be noteworthy to fill up a broadcast day? With the My Network TV affiliation, WZMY was a marginal operation. Now WBIN-TV does not even have that. Does anyone think the future of WBIN is "all infomercials or home shopping?" Its a shame- I really miss the old days of WNDS with the classic reruns and Al's weather.

I'd guess within five years wbin tv and wmfp tv(RTV) will be religious tv stations.

Unlikely, WBIN is valuable TV real estate - I could see home shopping or even MeTV (if WMUR doesn't add it) or ANTENNA TV on the main channel.

WMFP is fine between 12-13 hours of RTV daily and infomercials. It's also valuable TV real estate as well.

The station has announced it will brand as "myTV38." Judging from the news promos, it would also appear that WBZ will adopt the CBS O&O graphics as well. Looks like all the effort (and success) of the past few years is thrown out the window. The individuality has departed; let's all look like New York corporate...

WBIN has another problem - NBCUniversal has announced that Universal Sports will no longer be offered on an over-the-air subchannel and will be a cable channel only. So now 50.2 is opened. They will not want to give up that space on the area cable systems but need to pick up something. Since RTV is on WMFP and Me-TV is coming to WMUR 9.2 those are out. Me2 and Antenna TV are possibilities. I don't see them picking up Live Well, as they're not an ABC affiliate. Any other ideas?

It was announced last week that the NBC affiliate in Milwaukee (WTMJ-TV) is picking up Livewell.

I didn't know that. I would think that ABC would prefer it to be picked up by WCVB because of the association with ABC and a better chance for cross promotion. Until WBIN has news there's no chance of that outside of promos.

The Cool TV has run into some financial problems so I don't think they'll be a good alternative either.

There's no mention of it on their website or twitter account and it's not listed in the cable listings for next week. I'm on their mailing list and haven't received any e-mails promoting it. I haven't watched them in the last month or so, meaning that I wouldn't have seen any promos if they were airing.

***Correction - I did see "News Now at 10" listed on locatetv.com. No other info given.

WBIN is scheduled to start news Monday night.

Someone leaked a video of it on youtube (it's gone now), it was so bad my first thought was that it was a "plant". It reminded me of broadcasting school. LOL

Comcast has finally updated the WBIN listings taking off the MyNetwork programming and adding the news. It wasn't there last night.

I am extremely interested to see this new WBIN broadcast tonight...

It takes a long time to set up a good newscast operation, it could be some time before this happens?
