Its seem that WDJR-FM is not as powerfull as before near the Tallahassee area. They still 100,000 watts station. I know WTVY and WDJR sometimes with thier singal that reach part of Tallahassee and point west.
Once again WDJR 96.9 FM is all x-mas music on the FM dail. Some of you guys saying a AC station for the flip good chioce. How about a Jack-FM? or Sports as ESPN Radio. I know most ESPN stations goes with 6,000 watts.
the following is loaded with sarcasm louis009 so please don't take personally....
"WDJR-FM is not as powerful as before near the Tall...." you are assuming that they have always been running up to and not over the legal limit of modulation .....always, even when not expecting a "visit" due to applications.
"Jack-FM or ESPN radio" ......the only sports station in this market to make money is WOOF-AM but that's on the strength of local morning show Phil Paramore. Without local, it falls flat with virtually no revenue (didn't magic try that on 103.9). As for the Jack, though I personally like the format okay, in Dothan, without lots of local (non-recorded, ANSWER THE PHONES, contesting, promotion, weather, etc) you will not be able to sell it for anything. Magic did that also. If y'all doubt me, please look up the selling price of WKMX in Sept of 2004 and the present valuation placed upon wkmx in the sale just completed.
End of rant Louis. I'm guessing that you are in the programming/on air part of the radio world which is an obviously essential part of radio. But without sales, the best AQH doesn't mean anything.......speaking of, that's a huge mistake made by many in radio and TV. AQH is often viewed as the "end all" of success which is wrong. If i have the choice of selling a station with a big cume or a station with a big AQH and I'll take the cume every single time because I can (proper frequency of course) deliver good results to advertisers over and over and over. I understand that on air lives and dies but that is really POOR management if that is how you beat up (ie control) your on air costs. Radio is absolutely a three legged stool and if you get anything out of balance you either bust your face or your butt or both.
Radio is still awesome with awesome potential but while the bean counters (cpa's) make the calls and while the "flip masters" make the calls it's crap for the employees, listeners and advertisers. And that is true every market no matter the size. Anyway, if your still in the biz, please do radio the best you can under the circumstances of your situation. If your not in it anymore (c'est moi) then encourage those that are. Things will change, they always do.
