WWFA St. Florian on the air

RonM said:
And this is just more salt on the wound for Huntsville.....now the Shoals has TWO "true" top-40s, and HSV doesn't even have one!!!

You hit the nail on the head there, not to mention Huntsville is a MUCH bigger market too and still doesn't have a real CHR! I wonder if it'll ever happen... I think the WWFA launch was very clever and well done. I'm sure it had the whole town buzzing. It certainly did on here. Objective accomplished. Imagine how big that news would be for Huntsville if a true CHR launched here considering there never really has been one! I'll be interested to see if WWFA will have a showing at all in the Huntsville numbers since you can pick it up in Limestone and Morgan counties and a little in parts of Madison co. Once the word gets out, I'm sure a lot of people in Huntsville will be straining to hear it.

Was the new station even mentioned on local TV or in newspapers or forums?

Usually when a new station signs on like this it goes almost completely unnoticed by the public until the advertising (billboards/TV spots) start.

Unless you're WHGO down on the Mississippi coast. Their format flip stunt was a computer voice countdown that caused a good bit of panic in the (stupid stupid stupid) general population.

In between songs, KISS 102.7 has been airing phone teasers of listeners calling in to say they switched from WZYP, Star 94.9 and Q 107.3 and started listening to Kiss FM. I've been able to get the signal period in Huntsville to Research Park Blvd before it goes away completely.

Also, the station airs American Top 40 and On Air With Ryan Seacrest.

Yeah they are actually sounding really good. They've really hit the ground running over there. I haven't been able to pick it up in Huntsville at all (which sucks) but it starts comming in around research park heading west on I565 and usually is heard pretty well by the time I get between Zirdt Rd and Wall Triana. I've also picked it up going up HWY 53 pretty well starting at about Burwell rd/Jeff rd area. I have a higher tolerance for static but I'd definitely call it listenable. I heard a legal ID yesterday that mentioned St. Florian, Decatur, Florence. I thought it was interesting that they mentioned Decatur in the legal, but it does have good reception there so more power to them. I always listen to them over WZYP if I'm anywhere in range of listenable reception. I've never been able to listen to the Nudge at night show but Kiss FM has picked them up in the evenings. Sounds pretty entertaining, but I didn't get to listen long before I traveled too far east into Madison Co and lost them.

Anyone have any contact ID for these guys? I was on Star 94 for 7 years and some would say "went down with the ship." I'd love to talk to them and see if I could be part of the lineup.

That would explain why the Wild 100 van has been seen around town. Wonder if Kiss will inherit that broadcast truck and debut her logo on the streets anytime soon.
