Yee Haw! Get Ready For Bert, Nashville!

Dammit. Billboard at I-65 inbound near Sidco has rotating Bert Show ad on it. This is a shot.
Three callers by next week. Bert still best in ATL. Hidden in Nashville for a week, their message is coming out rather quickly. Good move.
 
And if the billboard doesn't work, Cumulus might want to try one of those "adopt-a-highway" promotions...
 
Sorry but a big fat THUMBS DOWN with "The Bert Show". B O R R R R R R I N G !!! Probably worse than that other one that used to be on The Party. I can't even remember what it was called. I want music in the morning, not a bunch of yackin' .

CC in Atlanta is a ratings and revenue disaster. 94.9 “Bull” (country) is still way behind what the AC brought in. The Bull is up a little 12+ and will only pick up listeners as Citadel trys to squeeze a little more $$ out thier Atlanta cash machine Kicks 101. The Bull and 96.1 are doing OK 2nd and 3th in some demos. CC in Atlanta has 2 of 8 in town full power commercial FM stations or 25%. They do not have a station in the top 10 12+.
 
Funny, I thought signal strength didn't matter... ;D

97.1 signal was BLASTING in my car at Target in Brentwood a few minutes ago. "Sweet Home Alabama" sounded pretty good. (Surprised ya Mac). Better than most of the signals on the B-wood Hills sticks. Obviously the hills on Franklin road diminish some of them. 92Q was tough.
 
Bert is an acquired taste. And since he doesn't sound like most radio voices many people in radio don't take his voice seriously. But they didn't take Scott Shannon's voice seriously either for a long time. Sad to say but truth is the business doesn't have a flood of great strong personalities. There are lots of guys who can voice track a shift, but do mornings? The market needs a shake up.
Tibbs make a comment about SM95 then and wsm fm now.
It's funny to see all the chatter about marginal formats on this board and the average success many split over. Meanwhile 92.9 just blows thru the numbers and revenue time after time.
Had SM95 stayed on course from the original format it would be a strong top 3 station in this market today. The format began to waver with "songs that sounded good that weren't hits" and often by people you never heard of. Then varying experimental weekend shows just confused the format. But if on a course of soft, cool, familar hits, SM95 would be enjoying what 92.9 has today. Remember, at that time, WLAC FM was an AC station and so was 92.9. 3 stations were doing ac. 92.9 wins by default to a degree, but also clearly meets many listeners expectations of radio...nothing standout or special, but consistant in what they do.
