YSP To Classic Rock

DStroyer said:
WYSP should be more like Rock 102 in Fargo, ND. If they were to simulcast Scotch, Dui, & Ginger in mornings, the ratings would be through the ROOF by now!

And, if they're going classic rock, they should take a page right out of the Z101 Helena MT book! www.kzmt.com

Adding my .02: KLAQ El Paso. Just returned from a trip there, courtesy of my 'Uncle.'
This station cooks, other than the morning talkfest. www.klaq.com

Honestly, I don't listen to either YSP or MMR. For some reason MGK keeps a preset in the car, but it is rarely used. Big market radio=safe, bland, boring dreck.

good point, MMR is an Active Rocker. even though some people say they are not.

Actually, WMMR is a Rock (or Mainstream Rock) station that reports as Active, just like sister stations WRAT and WDHA in New Jersey. I mean, they just played Creed, a band whose domain is pretty much exclusively "Mix" stations these days. Safe soccer mom dreck.

Also, Active Rock stations play bands like Korn, System Of A Down, Slipknot, Mudvayne, Static-X, etc. These bands are nowhere to be found on WMMR's log, as they are too busy playing tired Van Halen, Led Zeppelin and Aerosmith tracks ad nauseum. Still, they're better and slightly more interesting musically than WYSP, but of course that isn't saying much. Philly deserves better choices than what they have now.

There is nothing wrong with some zeppelin, and Aerosmith. I just don't want to hear a format change and hear Black Dog, and Stairway over and over. I am all for the songs you mentioned.

Actually SoulCrusher...the bands you listed above are nolonger mainstream active rock. They are about 5 years old. The New Active Rock has many new bands out that the Big Markets wont play alot of and thats why the mid-markets are killing them in ratings. Bands such as, BlackStoneCherry,BlackTide,Airbourne,TheoryofaDeadman,JetBlackStare,5FingerDeathPunch,Bulletformyvalentine,AvengeSevefold,Disturbed,Dragonforce + many many more. Of course they will play the bands you mentioned above when they bring out new music, but scream rock is giving away to more commerical loud rock with guitars again.

Hopefully with any breed of an active rocker out of the picture, 104.5 will have an excuse to go somewhat harder than they are now and broaden up their playlist.

Does MMR not count?

I don't exactly think MMR and RFF are in the same position, RFF is the new kid trying to make a name for itself, MMR has found it's groove in "everything that rocks", which gives them the liberty to play..... everything that rocks (not saying that they DO play everything that rocks and aren't being fed by playlists deemed acceptable by corporate, all the more reason for them to widen up their playlist as well).

actually, MMR does play system of a down, korn, theory of a deadman, avenged sevenfold, disturbed, and airbourne. and they did have dragonforce on when through the fire and flames became popular. the real chicken rocker is Z95 in the valley. you will NEVER hear ANY of this on Z95. except an occasional Theory of a deadman, and ive only heard disturbed played twice, land of confusion and suprisingly, inside the fire.
