Z93 stunting!

Remember that I said Z wont be the only station to feel the effect of Mainline and their changes. Thats a MAJOR HINT!!!!!

Remember, Dayton will eventually join the PPM family too. Why am I saying this? Dayton has not had a true oldies station, and guess what could be coming to the 101.5 dial!

SUPERHITS 101.5

Watchout CHANNEL 94.5.. THey already are starting to make changes on their website....DJ Profiles are GONE.....HMMmmmm

DETOTO

I will be very sad if Ultimate Oldies goes away. They were something fresh in this market, and it would be a loss if they were to go corporate.

I just went to Channel's site, your right! No DJ's on the page...hmmm interesting!

Something fishy is going to happen. I was more in the mindset of 101.5 and 102.9, but hey, who knows. Ive been hearing a lot from a couple people at Mainline that 102.9 will become a Rhythmic CHR station complimenting 92.1 however, things could change and they could become full head on CHR.

Kentucky Media sounds like he/she has some inside info! Very interesting. Did Mainline conduct any research for Louisville? If so, any hints as to what they will do there?

Mainline doesnt play around, thats the one thing while some people dislike the company, I have to say that are doing right! They research their markets every 2 years on trends. They did a research project in the tiny burg known as Hagerstown, something that market hasn't seen in ... oh ... never!

Mainline, gotta give em credit - They know what their doing!

I dont like the fact personally that Z93 might go away, but notice one staffer thats not leaving, and that person happens to be Gina. Hmmm....could she be heading to 102.9?
I think Z93 is a staple of Dayton and its a really sad day in radio history.

Mainline is in the process of wrapping up their study in Louisville. I have a eerie feeling that there will be some changes fa la la la coming after the holiday season.

Remember, Dayton was a MAJOR underperformer for Radio One, very possibly the worst market for the company. Ironically Indianapolis isnt too far off, could we see them peeling that station off their to do list soon? And could Mainline be involved?

thanks for the insight. Clear Channel will have their hey-dey for maybe three or four months but things will change quickly, i promise you that! Mainline and Arlington are out for blood and Cox is the least of their worries!

I'm listening to 945 now and they sound a bit different. They have the "All The Hits" feel back to them. "The One And Only 945" now on their website. I'm praying HOT 1029 attacks them.

I have a feeling your right. Look for 102.9 to tweak a little bit, not a lot...but enough to attack 94.5. Channel will not be able to stand up against 102.9 if their life depended on it.

You know.... Reggie Beas (HOT 1029 PD) left yesterday. That means Partyman works from 3p-12mid. Not for long. They're going to bring over Gina to do afternoons. 1029 to tweak a little bit? I doubt that will even happen.

i dont think they will tweak it too much, but enough to fill the gap that 92.9 has left the market with

So what about 945? This should leave them plenty of room to come slammin! They better order a new imaging package, get some jocks. Get rid of the crap. What decision will they make?

FROM WIKIPEDIA

On November 1, 2007, all of the Z93 DJs were let go or reassigned within the Main Line / Dayton radio stations in advance of an announced format change. The station is due to change its format at Noon (EDT) on November 2, 2007, reportedly to a form of the Adult Contemporary genre.

AC genre? Well that narrows it down. Hot AC against MIX 1077? Doubtful. AC to take on LITE? We hope not. Rhythmic AC? Hmm... but movin929.com is invalid.

Contemporary hit radio station Z-93 appears to changing its tune.

WGTZ-FM (Z-93 92.9) on Thursday broadcast an automated countdown instead of music. Periodically, a recorded voice announced: "Coming noon Friday, the new 92.9."

The Top 40 station is rumored to switch to a Variety Hits format as "92.9 Jack FM," according to Radio Online.

Hot A/C, Jammin', is not doubtful...if KyMedia's info is correct. If (and I say if, because I'm not privy to Mainline's research), the research showed there was little audience "passion" for Mix...they would be very vulnerable to an attack.

A well researched, well programmed, well promoted Hot A/C (or some "variety" of it) could, hypothetically speaking, splinter the 20 something shares in the market now dominated by Mix and Lite. There's more potential audience there than any other format in Dayton.

Tweaking Hot? It's an interesting conjecture. That 50K signal on the hill in Springfield seems to be, almost as good as the Z signal out of Brookville. It could, again hypothetically, be morphed into a rhythmic leaning CHR and might have more clout with the advertisers. Don't know. Just a theory. (Given the already reported on these boards poor sales performance of Radio One here.) But, the thought of a "Z-103" might be tempting to an owner.

A "true" oldies station on 101.5? Don't hold your breath. If you're talking 50's-70's oldies, it would have little appeal to the advertisers. (And no, I won't argue this fact with the oldies fanatics on these boards again. I dearly love the format, too. But, it is the way it is. Get over it. And "Ultimate Oldies", so far...is nowhere to be seen on the non-comm numbers. I know some people are listening. But the audience, to date, is so small, Arbitron apparently can't find it. But, I do wish them well. I understand they're looking for local appeal and are having some underwriter success. God bless them.)

"Movin"? Don't make me laugh. If the format was truly successful, there would've already been one in Dayton by now.
