FROM WIKIPEDIA
On November 1, 2007, all of the Z93 DJs were let go or reassigned within the Main Line / Dayton radio stations in advance of an announced format change. The station is due to change its format at Noon (EDT) on November 2, 2007, reportedly to a form of the Adult Contemporary genre.
AC genre? Well that narrows it down. Hot AC against MIX 1077? Doubtful. AC to take on LITE? We hope not. Rhythmic AC? Hmm... but movin929.com is invalid.
Hot A/C, Jammin', is not doubtful...if KyMedia's info is correct. If (and I say if, because I'm not privy to Mainline's research), the research showed there was little audience "passion" for Mix...they would be very vulnerable to an attack.
A well researched, well programmed, well promoted Hot A/C (or some "variety" of it) could, hypothetically speaking, splinter the 20 something shares in the market now dominated by Mix and Lite. There's more potential audience there than any other format in Dayton.
Tweaking Hot? It's an interesting conjecture. That 50K signal on the hill in Springfield seems to be, almost as good as the Z signal out of Brookville. It could, again hypothetically, be morphed into a rhythmic leaning CHR and might have more clout with the advertisers. Don't know. Just a theory. (Given the already reported on these boards poor sales performance of Radio One here.) But, the thought of a "Z-103" might be tempting to an owner.
A "true" oldies station on 101.5? Don't hold your breath. If you're talking 50's-70's oldies, it would have little appeal to the advertisers. (And no, I won't argue this fact with the oldies fanatics on these boards again. I dearly love the format, too. But, it is the way it is. Get over it. And "Ultimate Oldies", so far...is nowhere to be seen on the non-comm numbers. I know some people are listening. But the audience, to date, is so small, Arbitron apparently can't find it. But, I do wish them well. I understand they're looking for local appeal and are having some underwriter success. God bless them.)
"Movin"? Don't make me laugh. If the format was truly successful, there would've already been one in Dayton by now.
