Z93 stunting!

Possibilities are endless...but while "Jack" and "Adult Contemporary" are beig mentioned a format like "The Track" in Indianapolis comes to mind..kind of a female-leaning variety hits. It would be fresh and possibly grab some shares from both Mix and Lite. Just a thought.

For the person who commented about Ultimate Oldies, they won't be going away. The reference is to the proposed move of Kiss Country 101.7 to 101.5 and to Enon.

Well.... we might as well call 92.9 home of Dayton's new JACK FM. I hate to say it but I've been hearing too much talk about it. I hope I'm wrong. JACK FM fails.. why would they bring it? It couldn't last in Columbus.

With Columbus, you're talking about one of the worst FM signals in the market, and one of the worst music mixes I ever heard in my life. It's like they grabbed somebody's bad CD collection and played it on shuffle. And, you also have to remember...that group is locally owned, locally operated. They jumped into "Jack" very early to preempt another Columbus station from doing it...before the format actually fleshed itself out. If you look into it, the successful "adult hits" stations are very well focused and, though they "seem" to be playing "anything", there's actually a method to their madness.

If you investigate, Mainline has at least one very successful Jack-style formatted station. It's called "Liberty". It's music mix is very interesting...well focused...the titles seems to fit together well, even if there's a "surprise" or two in there. At least from what I saw on the internet today.

Ultimate Oldies and it's 4700 song playlist is and will continue to be a great work in progress. It's non profit and growing and we're always looking for more volunteers who believe that the oldies format has a place in Dayton radio.. Wanna Help? go to www.daytonoldies.com and check us out!!

What market would that be in? If JACK comes to Dayton, that will be the worst upset ever.

The Mainline station Jammin' wants to know about is in Richmond, Virginia (market #55...very comparable to Dayton at #59).

They appear to be top 10 total audience...the demos are where you tell the tale and, judging from the 12 plus, the in-demo numbers would seem to be pretty good.

Look at it this way: if Z went from where they are now to about 4.0-5.0 12 plus, it would be a huge improvement.

In today's compressed markets, you don't have to be a market dominator to be successful financially.

I am very interested in being a board operator or a personality.. I'm pretty knoweledgeable about music and if I'm not I can learn about it quickly. I also work at WDPR, and Cox Radio Dayton.

I might email the station, but since I can't support financially, I'd love to be a warm body, it's always nice to have that behind the board, though the computer does a decent job too.

Thank you Jason. Yes... they suck. LOL. What's going to happen to 92.9? It better not be that crap.

Uh..Jammin'...you're missing something here. Let's speak hypothetically:

If a station has a 12 plus figure of, let's say 3.7...that's about a 6 to a 7 share in-demo. That's enough to put you in the top 5 in-demo. And, if you take a "big gun" or two down two or three share points at the same time, you will look golden. (Imagine if Z went, 12 plus...from a 2 to a 4.5. Mix dropped from a 7 to a 5.5. Lite went from a 6 to a 5.1. It really could turn out to be quite a battle in-demo, at least hypothetically speaking.)

Remember...it's all about demos. Not 12 plus. And, what I hear...the Richmond station has, so far, been a winner.

I understand you're not a fan of the music. But, put your "owner" hat on here.

Very true. I think JACK FM could work but I really think Main Line has something else coming.

Eaton, Dayton, & Springfield Alive! They actually recently brought that back. That convinced me they were here to stay for a good while. Guess not.

Mainline doesnt play around, thats the one thing while some people dislike the company, I have to say that are doing right! They research their markets every 2 years on trends. They did a research project in the tiny burg known as Hagerstown, something that market hasn't seen in ... oh ... never!

So you're familiar w/Hagerstown? It ain't a 'tiny burg.' You could've called it that, maybe 10 years ago, but that area has seen the overspill of DC & Baltimore employees who call Hagerstown home and make the commute. You'd be surprised how many very radio-savvy people call that market home.

I don't think Mainline is doing anything revolutional there. Plus, they bought some very well performing stations from Dame, so it's not like they had to go in that market and re-invent anything.
