Z93 stunting!

Re: Going Jack??

The Dayton newspaper reported this morning, that the station is going JACK FM.

Not quite. The actual quote is "The Top 40 station is rumored to switch to a Variety Hits format as '92.9 Jack FM,' according to Radio Online."

Rumored.

I wish there was a stream. Main Line doesn't stream any of their stations so that's gonna suck. However.. if 92.9 becomes what it's rumored to become, I won't want a stream anyway. :D

They are changing to the "All Time...All Of The Time" format and will feature songs with a temporal reference such as:
Time of The Season- Zombies
Time Waits For No One - Stones
Time is Tight - Booker T. and The MG's
Time (Clock Of The Heart) - Culture Club
Time - Alan Parsons
Time - Pink Floyd
The Night Time Is The Right Time - CCR
Right Time Of The Night - Jennifer Warnes
Thank The Lord For The Night time- Neil Diamond
Time In A Bottle- Jim Croce
Weekend In New England - Barry Manilow ("Time In New England:)
Minute By Minute - Doobies
This Magic Moment - Jay And The America's
Midnight Hour - Wilson Picket
It's Midnight - Elvis
Midnight Blue - Melissa Manchester
Five O'Clock World - Vogues
Rock Around The Clock - Bill Haley
One O'clock Jump - Count Basie
Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom Time - Perez Prado
Big Time - Peter Gabriel
Hey Kids What Time Is It - Bozo The Clown
It's Eleven O'clock...Do You Know Where Your Children Are? - Al Schottlekotte (sp?)
Yesterday - Beatles
Today - Pozo Seco Singers
Tomorrow - "Annie" Soundtrack
Time Warp - "Rocky Horror Picture Show" Soundtrack
Goodbye Again - John Denver ("It's Five O'clock This Morning")
Finger Popping Time - Hank Ballard And The Midniters
Minight Special - Johnny Rivers
Isn't It Time - Babys
Elpaso - Mary Robbin's (Night time would find me in.....")
This Time I'm In It For Love - Player
Trogladyte - Jimmy Castorbunch

Uh, well...you get the idea....I would list more but time is running out!

Since we can't listen to a stream, if someone would post what it is in 3 minutes, that would be great.

If someone is recording, please post a link or upload it.

2 minutes and counting....

Jack-FM or any rock-based format would make sense if they want to combine advertising efforts with WING-AM.

Personally, I'd like to hear a format similar to The Sound in Cincinnati and how The X presented itself back in the mid-90s. I like the name another poster came up with... 92.9 The Flight.

I don't know if Hot AC or Fresh is on the horizon, though. Z-93 was leaning that way for years to protect Hot and even before that when Blue Chip owned the station.

Its sad to see a station with such longevity as Z-93 getting thrown away, but the damage has been done and its time to relaunch with something else.

Fly? So their playing on the songs of course, but what does the imaging sound like and say.

We'll see how it plays out, but sounds stupid so far.

Fly FM - We Play Anything.....I think it's just Jack FM without the name... ho-hum....
Indy does the same with Hank FM - we play anything...blah, blah.
Now the interesting part is how will this "fly" with MAX FM (we play anything) which has a large presence in northern cincy suburbs and middletown?

Imaging sounds like the guy who does 94.9 The Sound.

second song: Sugar Ray - Fly

ho hum...think I'll fly off to sleep. Corporate radio doesn't know JACK.

Get the flyswatter or a can of """RAID"""!!!!

Flies on you know what! The competition is laughing and saying "We'll pull the wings off that fly right now"

Its one thing to change a heritage station to a some what proven product named Jack.

Its another to change it to what you think variety hits should be, and then name it after the dirtiest of bugs.

Song #3 Summer of 69 Brian Adams
4. something by the Rolling Stones
5. Get down tonight.
Grrrrrrrr! If I were at Mix, I'd be laughing right now. Ridiculous! You honestly think this will compete? What research?

OK, so the kick-off says the other stations in Dayton are playing this great music already, so we're gonna hop on the band wagon and do the same????

You fail.

I'll listen in a year during the next countdown.

Just in case any of the suits from this company visit these boards, or can even hear about what is posted here.

Idiots is the word of the day!

A cheap change to variety hits is fine, but FLY is the best thing you could come up with?

Its a shame there wasn't a FLY on the wall during your creative sessions. IT could have stopped you from making this
pathetic choice.
