KBKS Morning Show Out

More on the changes at Kiss. Apparently the midday host is also out:

And now we have the big news: Jubal returns!

https://news.****************/cgi-bin/rol.exe/headline_id=c40894

KBKS-FM (106.1 Kiss FM)/Seattle will debut "The Jubal Show," starring Jubal, one of Seattle's most popular radio personalities and stand-up comedians. "The Jubal Show" will air weekday mornings from 6-10am and will begin in August. Previously he spent 10 years as co-host of the syndicated "Brooke and Jubal" show. He now returns to where it all began at 106.1 Kiss FM, where he spent the first several years of his career. Jubal will be joined by his wife, Alex Fresh, and additional hosts to be named at a later date.

Now, are they going to start identifying on the air as Kiss FM again? I really don't understand why, if they're truly committed to the CHR format on 106.1, why they refuse to identify the station as Kiss FM. Actually I think last time I looked at my iHeart Radio app it didn't even identify the station as Kiss FM there.

I’ve noticed they’ve been sneaking “Kiss” references in here and there within the last...6 months to a year, maybe? They don’t exactly ID as Kiss during TOTH, other than the website.

106.1 will see some of its best ratings in years. 92.5 will definitely take a hit. Those are my predictions.

Do I think 106.1 will overtake 92.5? No, I do not, but I think the gap between the two stations will narrow considerably.

They've actually been doing that periodically since the under construction stunt in 2018. I thought for sure that when they announced that the winners of the funniest morning show in Seattle contest were announced that they would rebrand, but didn't happen. It really makes the CHR format on that station sound like a placeholder, but until what happens? You'd think that they'd start identifying by name with the hiring of the top morning show talent in the market.

Maybe a name change is coming...
Hits 106.1, Channel 106.1, Z 106.1, Q 106.1, B 106.1, Y 106.1, FM 106.1, Max 106.1, Hot 106.1, Wild 106.1

Why not? I'd like to see that at this point, but like you say Hot is already taken. iHeart isn't going to use Wild, as that's there Rhythmic brand. Max isn't a regular brand used by iHeart or really anyone else with only a few exceptions, and Q, Z, or Y I couldn't see them using without a change in calls.

While it may be hard to believe, KBKS is in a pretty darn good spot right now. They are in a two-way battle with Movin, and just picked up one of the most popular morning personalities in Seattle. If there was ever a way to revitalize a struggling radio station, this is it. Credit to iHeart when credit is due; they have done an excellent job bringing quality talent to both "The Jet" and KBKS.

Wild is not used for rhythmic brands. Wild 94.9 in SF is CHR and Wild 95.5 in West Palm Beach is CHR. Max as in Max 106.3 in NJ is a CHR.

Paid site, run by the former mod here when it was Radio-Info. No thanks.

Oh well. It’s still a radio centric site, and other members post links from it when the situation warrants.

The transition has begun - as of midnight, KBKS is now “Jubal 106.1”.
