English music on 105.3

I assume you mean Bolivia's largest city? (lots of places with the same name.) Completely new operation or an upgrade/expansion of an existing station or network?

Googled some pictures of Santa Cruz, did not realize how much it has grown recently. Very dynamic, looks like an interesting place to visit.

As an aside, shortwave has almost completely disappeared in Bolivia. There were about ten stations left when I last counted in 2018, but I think most are gone now...

Yes, Bolivia.

Years ago, I went to Santa Cruz but had to fly in to La Paz as there were few international flights to Santa Cruz at the time (70's). The owner of the station that I was working with came to La Paz in a Land Rover and drove me back. On the way, I saw miles and miles of fields with a dark green plant. I asked. I was told, very casually, "the leaf". Cocaine.

This time I don't even have to go there. At this moment, a good thing. But I am concerned about the people there as I have heard nothing for several weeks; in most of Latin America the counts of sick and dead are sometimes as low as only a tenth of the "real" figures.

An article in The Economist says that the economies of the region have been set back to about the 1902 level.

K287BQ is now running Radio Vida, so a simulcast with 1480 and its 94.9 translator, as well as 92.5. This could be an audio routing mistake, but we’ll see if it lasts.

And...updating my own post: The Rhythmic CHR has returned to K287BQ after a couple of weeks of Radio Vida. Still no announcements other than the previously heard frequency insert. RV still on 92.5.

What a tangled web they weave. I suspect K287BQ will continue to be filler until the deal for KTWL is approved and consummated. Is Texas Mix even on the air now? I would take it silent and file the STA that I had done so, if I were the one selling. There's really no good reason to continue incurring the expense of lame duck programming.

Any updates, is KTWL still running Texas mix and K287BQ still running original programming?

K287BQ is just playing music, no commercials no ID. Once in a while you’ll hear them say

105.3 “let me love you” 105.3 “let me love you”

105.3 “let me love you” 105.3 “let me love you”

LOL, MrTejano that's funny. Are they using a male or female voice to announce, and are they saying the words "Let Me Love You" or playing clips of the DJ Snake/Justin Bieber song? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=82uChz_GyWU

Doesn't need to do aural ID if it has a FSK CW on it...most translator xmtrs have that feature built in...both of my FXs here in New Orleans do it every hour...no vocal ID on them

LOL correct me if I'm wrong, but to my knowledge the programming heard on 105.3 isn't rebroadcast anywhere in Houston, not even on an HD signal. This has been going on for a while.

Correct... that has been the case since the 105.3 xlator came on air.

If the owner of KTWL and the Houston translator buy 105.3 in Winnie, can they modify to move one of the rimshots into Houston as a full power?

There is the issue of second adjacents on 104.9 and 105.7, so you could not move KXXF all the way into Houston. You would have to find a way of moving KTWL completely out of the market, or shutting it down, and then try for an upgraded rimshot signal for KXXF.

With 104.9 being so close to downtown, any attempt at making 105.3 a rimshot station would be useless.

If there is ever any hope of 105.3 moving into Houston, you would have to hope 104.9 is willing to make the move to Missouri City (but that in itself would require a few more stations to be moved... probably not worth it for Univision). I'm not sure the church makes the kind of money needed to make this happen. Nevermind that throwing money at an industry that is way past its peak would be asinine.

But then again, this organization has underqualified people running the clown show, so who knows. When you're playing with house money, stupidity knows no bounds.

Speaking of stupidity ..The church no longer owns 105.3 :)
