Ahh DX is beautiful.Except WHAS is overpowering them on the Key West SDR as well. Ha!
What do you normally hear on 1040 when WHO isn't there? Two new ones for me this evening, on the west edge of Phoenix:
WHO Des Moines, IA. Caught them briefly but heard their call clearly.
KRKO Everett, WA. Also caught their call.
Though they’re both 50kW, I haven’t received them here inside the chicken wire before.
I brought my Sangean HDR-18 tabletop radio home from the office Friday, and it exhibits noticeably different reception characteristics than the HDR-16 portable.
I've heard WCBM in the Chicago area a couple of times, but not recently.Couple new ones heard last night here in Chicago. WRUS Russelville, KY on 610 with oldies and clear ID at 7:50 pm CDT and WBCM Baltimore, MD mixing with WCTT on 680 with "AM 6-80 WBCM" ID.
I never heard KXNT, but I met the original owner, as KVEG, Bob Naismith (Roberts Communication), when I was just around 12 and he was 16. He was doing a "carrier current remote" at the local Dairy Isle, which got out 500 feet or so, which was on 1200, with the unofficial call letters WDAW. If any of you hear of WHAS going off again, let me know, and I'll try to email Bob to try to see if he can hear it. Even then, he was "breaking up the clear channels", which I'm sure is how he picked 1200, even in 1965.Have any of you Chicago area/midwest guys ever heard KXNT? I never have in the midwest.
