Post your latest DX

Radio Progreso on 640 with good signal tonight in eastern Iowa. Unusual because WOI Ames, IA is usually the only thing I hear at night on 640. Also hearing what I believe is Radio Enciclopedia on 530.

I'm new to DXing, so I haven't been doing any formal logging or anything.

Informally, I've caught a couple here and there well after dark (I'm in the east SF bay, behind the Oakland/Berkeley hills):
KYNO (Fresno)
KFI (LA)
KNX (LA)
KNWN (Seattle)
KBZZ (Sparks, NV)

These may or may not count as genuine DX catches, but they're still interesting.

One night, however, I caught a station somewhere between 1400-1500 kHz that played Ode To Billie Joe by Bobbie Gentry, which struck me as very unusual because there is nothing local that plays that kind of music on those frequencies, so it must have been coming in from a considerable distance. I can't recall the exact frequency however, so short of making another attempt, I may never solve that DX mystery.

But that's the fun part!

Daytime skywave today on the KA7U receiver in Weiser ID. Hearing a variety of western WA and BC stations at 400-500 miles, including 1320 CHMB Vancouver, 1540 KXPA Bellevue, and 1600 KVRI Blaine.
KMXA-1090 Denver w/ Spanish sports mixed with KPTR.
KNZZ-1100 Grand Junction w/ Sean Hannity (guest host).
Country on 1420 with no ID in between songs, likely KMHS Coos Bay OR.
KSVC-980 Richfield UT local ads
KDUN-1030 Reedsport OR local ads

I was wondering what happened to Weiser since I couldn't find it on the aggregator site, now that you mentioned KA7U I put that in and it's listed as Eastern Oregon (but still Weiser on the actual receiver page. Anyway thanks for the tip!

From north side of DFW, Texas:

12/23 2130 CST. Not new, but hearing 770-KATL Miles City, MT with eclectic music selections in null of local KAAM.

WCGA Woodbine, GA AM 1100 very strong right now (11:25 pm CST) during a scheduled DX test with code IDs, voice IDs and test tones. Easy catch over WTAM. Not needed, but always nice to hear a DX test.

It is nice, and a new one for me. Morse code and sweeps easily over WTAM Cleveland, didn't even need to null it. Finally a second station on 1100 for me. Leaves 660, 890, 1390, 1490, 1680 and 1690 as single-transmitter frequencies for me. 780 would be another but WBBM moved so it counts twice (Itasca and Bloomingdale).

WCGA GA heard on the KA7U receiver in Weiser ID. Easy copy under KNZZ/KWWN/etc.
Not needed in WA. Already heard them in May of this year on the last DX test.

DXing locally tonight... some highlights so far on this Christmas Eve. Remember, lots of Xmas music all over the band including some 50KWers running Mannheim Steamroller's An American Christmas.

610 KEAR San Francisco on top with Christmas music, Family Radio IDs...definitely a 'new sound' compared to the old days of Harold Camping
620 CKRM Regina SK weak under KPOJ with Christmas music // stream, ID
Old time radio on 680 under KNBR - this is likely CJOB Winnipeg MB
690 CBKF-1 Gravelbourg SK over CBU with French programming! Sounds like a very weak // on 860, so Saskatoon. KPAM and 1-2 others on top of that.
750 CKJH Melfort SK over/under KXTG, more Christmas music. Was widely reported on the East Coast 1-2 weeks ago when WSB was off on various occasions overnight. Yet, no one back east caught UT, OR, or even MT.
UNID 760 Christmas music, John Lennon, Jessica Simpson, etc. not matching usual targets, or even XEABC for that matter. KGB is buried with sports. Not sure who this is. CFLD doesn't seem to have a matching playlist either.
770 KATL Miles City MT way over others with Christmas music // stream
Stream isn't working for 790-KABC Los Angeles, but I have confirmed them with Mannheim // the KB6C SDR in Ventura. They usually pop up every Christmas Eve. They are widely becoming the regular from CA on 790 - it wasn't long ago that KFPT Clovis CA *was*. Someone with Old Time Radio mixing, plus KGHL Billings MT.
820 WBAP Fort Worth TX under KGNW, Peter Paul & Mary Xmas music. This is not from Mannheim's show and isn't on the 2022 list.
890 WLS Chicago (!!!) WAY over CJDC and others with WX and ABC bottom of hour news! This is much rarer than WGN or WBBM!

more forthcoming

900 KBIF Fresno Hmong programming over SK and others 0.5KW
920 - Chip Davis forgot to add KXLY Spokane as an affiliate of An American Christmas. They are running the show. Likely CFRY MB under, but KXLY is really strong tonight with some deep fades.
950 unid with Art Bell Somewhere in Time, guessing KCAP MT, but buried under a strong S9++ KJR
1210 CFYM Kindersley SK 250W with Christmas music, IDs
1430 KMES Ogden UT all over KCLK and KYKN with Spanish Religious programming

KXEQ-1340 Reno NV to add to the pile of logs - references to La Gran D and Super Q. Big signal on top of the pileup, 977 watts. Merry Christmas, happy Holidays, everyone!

A litttle daytime skywave tidbit for me this week. CHHA on 1610 Toronto around 10:15am CST at my location Thursday mooring. 10kw. Weak but steady on the C Crane Skywave.

Christmaa music on 50kw signals....WSM, CFZM, WSB, BAP, WHAS. among the most listenable. KDKA had a live broacast of Christmas eve Catholic mass. Locally (or semi-locally) WTMJ had Christmas music. WIND replaced conservative talk with old time radio.

As of 8 p.m. CT tonight, daytimer 1110 KVTT “Radio Mirchi” in Mineral Wells (near DFW) is still on the air at 50 kW - or 39 kW critical hours power - playing south Asian music. It’s completely covering KFAB here. Might be a new station logging opportunity for some of y’all.

CFZM and CJBC both were off the air this morning at around 2amCST on 740 and 860 respectively, The two are diplexed from the same tower west of Toronto, On 740 I was hearing weak signal a talk show, but was unable to identify it. My best guess is KRMG, which is audible under CFZM once in a while. On 860 there was a weak signal with sports talk. Again, I couldn't identify it, but I'll guess WSON from Hendersonville, KY (Evansville, IN) which occasionall turns up here around sunrise.

No luck snagging KCBS with CFZM off? Probably the only way to hear it in Chicago is if CFZM is off since their signal comes from the same antenna orientation direction!

Conditions were improved last night, not just south-focused as it's been recently. For example, I was getting a fair/good signal from CKJH 750 in WSB's null with no sign of the Cuban. I was also hearing CHHA 1610 and (I think) CKLW. The highlight - IDing KDKA in local KLAT 1010 slop for state #30. It's ridiculous how hard that's been. If I hear anything on 1020 its' KCKN and the slop is terrible on all of my radios. Interestingly, on the SDR down in Galveston, with their antenna aimed NE-SW away from Houston, 1010 is often dominated by WJXL and KDKA is usually strongest on 1020.

Still no sign of the WNJC DX Test, though.
