The latest on 102.5

I know Rob gets the honor of bringing 102.5 to an end, but in all honesty, Roger Christian should play some role in the on-air farewell. For many years, he WAS the lone live voice on that station and stayed in middays afterward. (Yes, I know he does evenings at WECK now, but in a just world he'd be part of this. And you can add Sandy Beach to that mix, too.)

He should apply at K-Love. He wouldn't even have to change his last name for the Resurrection!! Maybe STAR can sign off with the Monty Python classic "Always Look on the Bright Side Of Life" from LIFE OF BRIAN as the final song...

Not happening.

Let's hope that Rob has a nice parting bonus from Audacy in the form of either a contract payout or healthy severance. He's been at the game and nicely paid for long enough that he may be able to simply fade into the sunset and enjoy a healthy retirement. If he can't stand staying away from broadcasting, Townsquare would be crazy to pass him up.

Calling all Hot AC music mavens, and women's format experts ... the last set or song on Star 102.5 will be _________________

Did ratings have anything to do with Star going off of the air

Star was the highest billing FM in Audacy's cluster. As David mentions, it was Audacy's money problems and that it would seem to have been in danger of tripping a covenant on at least one of its loans without an infusion of cash were the impetus behind this deal. Audacy likely averted an immediate disaster, but, long term (meaning one to two years down the road), the divestitures in Buffalo and Memphis are almost certainly going to prove bad for the company's bottom line. It's getting rid of two profitable properties while getting little in return.

I think Audacy is making a huge mistake with FM 100 in memphis

They were doing better than Breeze, so short answer, no.

From Radio insight: https://radioinsight.com/headlines/...s-in-buffalo-another-blows-in-off-the-breeze/

"WMSX (Breeze 96.1) ranked thirteenth in the Buffalo market with a 2.9 share in the April 2023 Nielsen Audio ratings.
WTSS, which is now simulcasting sister CHR “Kiss 98.5” WKSE ahead of the sale to Educational Media Foundation in order to move the audience there, the was eighth with a 4.4 share."

Both of these decisions are, in my opinion, among the stupidest in the history of corporate radio.

Time will tell if I'm right, but, if the alternative is bankruptcy, you hold your nose, close your eyes, and swallow the medicine.

Except they are replacing it with a country station. The frequency were the wolf is broadcast is being sold. They could keep FM 100
