Dennis Prager Hurt in Fall

He is less than a mile from me. I hired him as PD of KRUX in the 60's when I was OM there (while at ASU). It took him another decade to find his calling in weather.

And i remember him entirely for tv as a tv weather guy in Connecticut...... until the age of the internet i never knew he did radio

(This is a guy with a genius IQ, BTW, so it's not a matter of intellect.) My friend is not alone in needing to use his hands as he talks.
Last time they tested me, I had a "genius" IQ level. Made me think they had to be very mistaken because I chose to go into radio and radio said "Nah. You're not for me. Get out!" [Actually, it was the backstabbing, format/owenership/PD changes that sent me packing. I've met a few top notch DJs that actually took an interest in me and gave me some very good pointers and advised me of the pitfalls. Then I met others who were vicious and nasty and said "Why should I give you any help when you might end up taking my job?"] Unfortunately, my math skills are about as good as a 1st graders, maybe less. It wasn't until 10 years after high school that they found out I had dyscalculia, basically a form of dyslexia but involving math and numbers. Bad enough that at the time in high school they put me in "special education--think the now verboten "R" word--math classes. I was fine if I wrote out two hundred and eighteen times three hundred and twenty six vs 218 X 326 but writing stuff out like that took forever.
If I had been smarter in math, I would have figured out how crappy radio paid and would have chosen a different career.....but it probably would have been something like typewriter repair just as computers and printers were popping onto the scene.

Fifty-odd years ago when I said I wanted to go into radio, my father gave me this sage advice: "Radio is like the buggy whip makers when the automobile was coming onto the scene. Eventually, most people didn't need buggy whips anymore although a few buggy whip makers survived for the small number who still used them."
The "automobile" he was referring to back then was television, but the computer-internet-cell phone-digital revolution became the automobile from that comparison. Still, he was quite astute.
Got some top-notch buggy whips if anybody wants one!

If Prager doesn't return, I wonder is Salem would air Charlie Kirk from noon - 3 pm? It seems like he is waiting in the wings currently.
Dennis Prager will return in June for one hour from 2-3PM Eastern, but in the interim, affiliates of his show will listen to Charlie Kirk starting March 31st. Charlie Kirk To Take Over Dennis Prager Show Affiliates; Prager To Return For One Hour In June I'm assuming Salem News Channel will also add more simulcast time for Charlie Kirk in place of the Dennis Prager hour hosted by Carl Jackson since Dennis got hurt.

Will Dennis start right at the top of the hour or start after the top-of-the-hour news, commercials and promo's which would push the start time to 2:06 pm?

The quotes from his family talk about him being paralyzed, so he may not be walking. He may also be in extreme pain. It's hard to be entertaining when you're physically in pain.
I just had to comment on this...

Mind you, I'm not anywhere near what (according to the info that has surfaced) Prager has gone/is going through, but just after the New Year I fell in my house and broke the hell out of my hip. I needed a full hip replacement, and was laid up in the hospital after the surgery for a few days, waiting for a transfer to a rehab facility where I'd start to learn to walk again. The pain was considerable, and it took me a couple days to get to the point where I "only" had to ask for Oxycodone "as needed" to supplement the Tylenol every 4 hours.

My mouth healed a lot faster. By the time I started my extended stay in inpatient rehab, I was cracking jokes and (at least attempting to) entertain the nurses and staff. If I'd had a show or a podcast I probably could have done an hour or two from my hospital room. That said, the absolute last thing on my mind was returning to work. I was fortunate in that I got put on medical leave by my employer and didn't need to worry about anything other than my recovery. Now, I have a few strong opinions about Prager (and his "university") but on a human level (and even if I was a fan), the last thing on my mind is whether or not he'll be back on the radio anytime soon. He should take as much time as he needs to heal.

How did it happen were you going down the stairs or?

I recently took a pretty good fall, ended up cracking a rib and screwing up my hand big time. [Looks like a blown up Mylar balloon ready to pop.] I knew getting old was gonna suck but always thought I'd be able to catch myself before I went down. Glad it wasn't a hip. If Trump's getting rid of stuff may I suggest he do away with the law of gravity?

I had just got home from traveling for the holidays, and hadn't entirely unpacked. I left my luggage on the floor in the bedroom, forgot that it was there, and tripped over it in the dark. When I managed to get to my phone to call 911, I said to the operator: "I've fallen and I can't get up!"

Either she didn't get the reference, or she was too professional to react.

Getting back to 1420, I wish they would move or drop the stock program that airs at 3:00 pm and air the first hour of Hugh Hewitt live at that time. The stock program doesn't even belong on 1420.

The stock program pays to be there.

Salem is in business to make money, and is struggling to do so.

Ergo, it belongs on 1420 to whatever extent it sustains the (probably non-revenue-producing) clearances of the rest of Salem's talk lineup.

I assume Salem doesn't do ads? If not and they're struggling for moolah, do you think at some point they may end up doing so?
They do run ads, but they don't buy the ratings in most markets so they can't participate in the usual ratings driven advertising marketplace.

The usual markets where they sometimes bought the ratings were the ones with a Fish station, so I wouldn't be surprised if they stopped subscribing to Nielsen Audio altogether going forward.

What was the purpose of starting at the top of the hour?
If you'll recall "The Dennis Prager Show" was 3 hours long (with SRN News, commercials and promos eating up 6 minutes at the top of each hour). Then, because he was so busy with personal appearances, writing his books covering The Tora (The first 5 books of the Bible), and PragerU he decided to shave an hour off of his radio show. To, somewhat, lessen the loss, he wanted to start his show right at the top of the hour. With the blessings of Salem Communications, he was able to do that. Now, I wonder if, given his physical condition, he might be served well by letting the network news start, as usual, at the top of the hour.
