10 AM on 96.9, and...

... and we have a THIRD Rihanna song in as many hours of this new station being on the air!

If Chris Brown is ever in town, he'd promptly punch the dial if it stopped on 96.9... ::)

This most likely is the format, but what if it is a 5 hour loop of the real format just to keep us guessing? Check in at 4:00.

I'm an old fart and I'm proud !
These bozos acting like this Rihanna chick is popular or something.

Bring on The Coasters !

(It means they started the page for the eventual new station just 24 hours after the old one left the air.)

"We have identified a huge gap in the market to super-serve Adults who have graduated from the many teen stations currently in the city, but who still want a radio station that gives them some of the great throwbacks they grew up with, along with the best rhythmic hits of today, and without all the interruptions. Hot 96.9 is that station!"

... or at least it is until the 13,000 songs in a row are done... ::)

Is this really the only demo advertisers are the slightest bit interested in? Will every station on the FM dial eventually be playing this sort of music, or hot AC, or contemporary pseudo-country, just to make sure everyone listening is 25 to 44 years old, female, not too highly educated, and a sucker for a slick ad? Is this what it's come to? ::)

In a word...YES....and like it or not this is actually a reflection of American Society as a whole, not just Radio

Hello there, just registered, I've been watching this thread posts by post..I'm disappointed. Not surprised, merely disappointed. I really wanted a nice station that might lean urban. I knew pure urban was not a realistic possibility but this is so vanilla. It's not particularly different, its just JAM'N without the Hip-Pop. I think radio execs don't understand there are in fact young males who'd like to listen to the radio. We simply dont' as of right now and are forced to use our phones and iPods. This is a female driven, female-centric station as is every other station. Old guys have their radio, why cant we? For now I'm regulated to pirate radio station like Big City Touch and Hot. I like their talk, new jack swing, dance hall and hip hop. I feel incredibly overlooked however.... Mainstream Urban would be just fine for Boston. Hartford area is about 11% black. Boston area is 8%, that shouldn't matter though because the number of African-Americans in Boston is farr greater than Hartford. Whatever, i'm just glad its not some alternative or rock stuff although i would like to hear some Punk/Grunge.

It's a big deception for Boston such station. I really was thinking that this new station become a sort of Jammin Oldies 2.0 station because there where rumours about that. But it sounds by far like that at the moment. Lots of current and recurrent music and sometimes a 80's track like MJ. Sorry, missed oppertunity GM.

They need to focus more on the 80's and 90's "throwback" of their moniker and less currents. But for now it sounds alright. The Fugees - No Woman No Cry right now.

Maybe, a more balanced mix would be nice. They would become an alternative for the more current hits stations in Boston. A station where you als hear the actual hits but also a lot 80's and 90's.
