10 AM on 96.9, and...

Oh yes audio on the stream sounds awfull at the moment. Sounds like it's not processed anymore. With talkradio it sounds fine but now it sounds awfull! Don't know how the over the air processing is sounding at the moment?

For those that wanted more older music, I'm not ruling out the possibility that the station will be tweakable. The right balance of current, recurrent, and throwbacks could change over time.

I hope. It's more of the same overplayed/burned out stuff at the moment. Some suprises in the music mix makes it more enjoyable to listen to.

Women in the target are still listening to current music. This is a cultural difference from the Baby Boomers, who largely turned away from new music by the time they hit their mid 30's. My wife is in the upper end of their target, and mostly listens to CHR radio, and only occasionally Hot AC. I can understand why they are playing at least some currents and recurrents from the last few years. It will be interesting to see what types of musical tweaks they make with 96.9 in the coming months. In any case, it will be mass appeal music (translation...boring to radio geeks) but very familiar and accessible. This was the right move.

Does anyone know who is singing Justin Beiber's "As Long As You Love Me"? It's definitely not him....I've heard it twice now. What the..?

So, does anyone think Clear Channel jumped the gun by flipping 101.7 away from mainstream Variety Hits? Given that 96.9 is rhythmic and mostly current-based, is there not now a hole for 80s pop (John Hughes movies et al)?

How much will this pull listeners away from Mix 104.1?

Just a passing thought.....

WEDX 101.7 gets to 2.0-2.5 by summer......WJMN 94.5 falters to the Amp/Hot double shot....

Evolution 101.7 flips to 94.5 in the summer, and 101.7 brings back the Harbor -OR- goes Hardcore Urban.....

While I haven't listened to 96.9 in months, I did have it on a preset on my car radio... until today, when I removed it by changing that preset to go to the station I'm most likely to listen to: WCRB.

That would be amazing. I really think CC is going to try to do something to differentiate Jam'n (like adding more rap back in without alienating the white suburban audience). But we'll see.

I guess women's shoe stores at the mall now have another radio station to cause husbands to decide to go wait in the car.

Hahaha. Yet another radio station I cannot listen to with my friends and it not be awkward and uncomfortable.

They should just copy Power 96.9 stunt format. That was accessible enough for whites, and would draw in young blacks, who are NOTORIOUSLY heavy consumers (myself included).

Is it just me or do their songs sound really slow compared to the other stations?

They are playing a version of As Long As You Love Me and Bieber sounds like a 40 year old dude singing the song instead of his usual whiny voice. It just sounds very odd....
