How many songs in the playlist?
It was also to make the "other guys"'s songs "sound" slower.jmtillery said:"speeding up the songs" or increseaing the pitch is an old Top 40 radio procedure which enabled a station to play more songs each hour since each song would finish faster due to the increased pitch. The idea was to play "more music" each hour than the competition.

It was done for both reasons.Snorch said:jmtillery said:"speeding up the songs" or increseaing the pitch is an old Top 40 radio procedure which enabled a station to play more songs each hour since each song would finish faster due to the increased pitch. Not exactly. You only gain about 4-5 seconds per 3 1/2 minute song, which works out to MAYBE an extra minute in the hour. It is to make the competition sound like their music is dragging. Also good for momentum.

Sorry to some that work in the business that don't get it, but it's what most people want to hear.
I think Cox going after 93.3 FLZ is great. Play new pop music and attack Flz. I think eighther 97X or 102.5 should do the same. Play Alot of "New" Active Rock songs per hour and Attack 98rock to Death. 97X is just "bad".. boring playlist and the scene is not there compared to the active rock music scene nationally. If Cox wants to continue to get the top spots in all formats. They should seriously continue the trend that they did with 101.5. Which station they do that in the Rock scene, who knows. My bet is 97X but 102.5 would work better...
You are right! "New music" is always great to listen to. But do we have any new "music" today to listen to? Take away all the fake echo chambers and reverbs and try to listen to most artists capabilities solo, is quite disappointing to say the least!scottsvb5 said:New Music beats Everything in all styles of Music..
