103.7 the Christmas Station

Can I have my hybernation shot now? Thanks...

R

That seems even earlier than last year, although I may be mistaken. Does anybody have last year's date?

Wonder why they are emphasizing the word COOL?

Stay cool... and don't have a meltdown! 103.7 Lite FM is here to fill the 48 remaining days before Christmas with good 'ol fashioned seasonal splendor!

We have so many cool things planned... so, keep checking back for more!

Just, be glad it is not a Freak'n Clear Channell station doing this it would be a total wreck I like on the top of their website the guy in the corner saying "They Did What" LOL

This doesn't look real. www.kvil.com Could this be a smokescreen for a flip?

Why? They've flipped every November since 2001. More than a dozen other stations around the country, including WLIT 93.9 Chicago and WNIC 100.3 Detroit, already had flipped.

KVIL is giving their target audience what they want to hear. We've now seen year after year that ACs flipping to Christmas music typically get their best numbers all year during this period. Looking at the yes.com log, the music mix looks awful -- 98 Degrees/"I'll Be Home For Christmas"? Kenny G/"Silver Bells"? -- but I'm not a middle-aged suburban mom they're trying to target, so this isn't suppose to appeal to me. It does seem to appeal to suburban moms, and they seem to tune in by the droves each year to hear it.

It's too bad we don't have the PPM in place yet. I betcha KVIL would reconsider starting it so soon. You can only take so many plays of the same dozen songs, for so long. :p

WHY the surprise? K-BILE has always flipped to Christmas music around Veteran's day. It very patriotic!!!

Hmmmm... Christmas music is patriotic? Wow, never heard anyone say that before.

Remember the last time they flipped to Christmas, they re-launched to 103.7 Lite FM

Yes! On December 26th I'm certain 103.7 will FLIP...

back to soft AC.

You meant at noon on December 25th, right? Most stations go back to a regular format by about that time of day, or not much longer thereafter.

Good Grief...well, I was off a few days but they hit. So, when will they play "Jingle Cats - Deck The Halls"??

Something like that, R. The exact time/date is really not important. It'll be back to normal by the 26th. The bigger point I'm trying to make is how absurd all the conjecture about a format flip based on {nothing} is. :)

I didn't hear this for myself but I was told KVIL is running a pre-recorded statement saying that they have received a lot of complaints about the Christmas music but rest assured Lite will be back after Christmas. Can anyone back this up? ???

Based on nothing? ??? Are you kidding me? It's too early for all-christmas!

Hell, give me the number, I'll call and complain.
