106.9 WKDN will become IQ 106.9

For years much of the WKDN programming was old sermons by preachers introduced as "the late Dr..."; ...now this 'new' station is giving - outdated reruns of talk shows? I was really hoping for the contemporary all news format, not another 50+ angry syndicated conservatve talk station. Prepared to be bored. At least WKDN had some redeeming qualities with the familiar hymns.

after 12 minutes of dead air, a voice came on touting the first "all Sean Hannity" station, into a best-of Hannity episode. The voice? Larry Mendte.

Now hearing a classic news report from WFIL "56 News" (along with an old John Wanamaker mattress commercial) in between Hannity breaks.

Not bad.

Don't expect Rush yet but he's coming. Give it a few days or weeks.

Angry conservative radio as opposed to angry liberal radio. At least the former makes money

Could this then be the beginning of a transition to the 'IQ' brand for the Merlin stations?

We will have WWIQ Camden/Philly, and already have WIQI Chicago. If 106.9 pulls some respectable numbers might we see FM News 101.1 become IQ101.1 and FM News 101.9 become IQ101.9?

There is nothing new about "IQ". The Alabama Educational Television Commission, that state's public broadcaster, has had call letters ending in "IQ" for decades, i.e., WBIQ, Birmingham; WDIQ, Dozier; WFIQ, Florence, etc...although I have problems using "Alabama" and "Educational" in the same sentence. WIQI in Chicago could just be a way of suggesting "101", since WIOI is probably not available.

Surreal... 106.9 is playing Hannity while 1210/WOGL-HD3 is playing Rush who's playing back to back Oldies (tied in to some reminiscence, Dusty Springfield/Mary O'Brien's birthday commemoration and a political thread).

They're not even playing the live Hannity right now. I am listening on my Sirius-XM radio right now and turned a regular radio to 106.9 and they're still doing best of. I thought that they would at least do the live show at 3:06pm.

They're running the "Best of Hannity" feed.

I'm loving the old commercials. And of course: "Alan Stone, WFIL News".

I listened to the shutdown of WKDN at midnight this morning. No fanfare or farewell. Just a promo begging for money, followed by the first few notes of a song. Then --- off the air...with no legal ID. FCC Violation #1????? ;D

No legal ID at midnight last night and I assume the first one was at noon today as WWIQ Camden / Philadelphia. I personally thought we'd be hearing KYW-FM, KYW-FM HD1 Camden, KYW, KYW HD Philadelphia.
